Glad I got this book for free

Very short shifter book. Like other readers I was surprised at how fast Cynthia agreed to be a surrogate for Nick. I guess the shortness of the story demanded that this happen so quickly. Which begs the question, why is the book so short?

Nick is hiding the fact that he is a tiger shifter, no surprise there. When he is forced to shift in front of Cynthia due to a threat, she doesn't take it well. When Nick's life is threatened again, Cynthia suddenly becomes a great knife fighter and manages to save his life and her own. Off to the HEA ending.

This book also contains another short story by the same author. It is called Her Duty to Mate and is a bear shifter story. Sylvie is required to attend a mating ceremony when she turns 18. As her father is the head of the clan she knows she can't escape it. She is surprised to discover that here partner is the hunky bartender she had been ogling just a few hours earlier. When they return to the house after the mating, they discover that her father and cousin have been kidnapped. She and her "soul mate" Sawyer set off to find them. (Sawyer has declared them soul mates, Sylvie is not sure she buys it.)

I will only say that this story is even shorter than the first, and also has a HEA. I found the shortness of it to be an indication that the author was not ready to give her characters any depth. Maybe she will improve on this as she writes more stories. I liked the first story better.

So So First Story, Great Bonus Story

I seem to be in the minority on the Paytiger Billionaire book. It was a very quick read, could have used more character development (if well done more character development would not have been necessary), but overall OK until I got to the end. Talk about dropping from a good read to "wait this can't be over" in a flash. Not to say that the reader can't figure things out and I'm sure others will say they liked the end but I felt cheated because it was so abrupt. I felt like I was missing some finalizing an epilogue would have helped.

The bonus story was very good, hence a bump up to 4 stars. Really good chemistry between two lead characters. Exciting story. Recommend buying the book for the bonus story.

Intricate sexy story with suspense

I loved the build up of this story. The scenario described at the beginning of the financial difficulties faced by so many people began an emotional connection with Cynthia, the female lead. The trouble that falls on Nicks shoulder after his father dies sets up a growing suspense that intrigued me right to the end.
