The Missing Chapter Podcast

The Pledge & The Person

Listen Later

More than just a words on page, far beyond just a recitation and nothing less than a unifying tradition, the Pledge of Allegiance is engrained in our American brains at a very young age.  It is recited before school starts, before meetings, some sporting events, and it’s even well known internationally.  But here’s a question…we know the Pledge, but do we know the person?  The person who wrote the pledge?  I didn’t, and my guess is, you may not know either.  And just like every one of our episodes and well, history in general, there’s way more to the story.  Find out who this person is, the local history ties, and some questionable controversy behind the story on this episode of the Missing Chapter.
