It's clone vs copy this week as Epic's PUBG-inspired shooter Fortnite arrives in beta form on mobile, only to be confronted by Netease's own portable version of the game, Fortcraft. Which performs better on touchscreen? Do they hold a torch to PUBG Mobile? Em and James hash it out along with the week's new releases and a chat with the maker of streamlined strategy game Polytopia.

We welcome an interloper to the podcast this week in the form of new Pocket Gamer editor Ric Cowley. As well as getting to know PG's most recent overlord we take a look at the decline of Gameloft, and the announcement of Super Smash Bros on Switch. There's also chat about new releases including The Sims Mobile, Temple of Spikes, Reed, and the newest Baldur's Gate expansion.

James and Em are snowed in this week. However, as it's always summer on the internet this hasn't stopped them hooking up to chat about all things mobile. Ghostbusters World has been announced, so the pair examine why it's going to be immediately eclipsed in the shadow of fellow AR creature-catching app Harry Potter Wizards Unite. They also cover new mobile releases including the superb Part Time UFO, and reflexive RPG Evoland 2, plus the arrival of Outlast: Bundle of Terror on the Switch. Additionally, James speaks to the creators of mobile sensation Alto's Odyssey.

We take to the dunes this week to discuss the launch of the hugely anticipated sandboarding(!) sequel Alto's Odyssey. There's also info on the latest - and possibly last - Rime update, plus the upcoming arrival of Lichtspeer on mobile. New releases Glitch Dash and Dice Brawl: Captain's League are put under the microscope, and James chats to Layers of Fear: Legacy producer Rafal Basaj about cramming all of that spookiness onto the Switch.

This week has it all: from plot-free sandboxes of endless multiplayer violence to short, heartfelt, narrative-driven experiences. Yes, we take a look at the Chinese version of PUBG on mobile, then play Monument Valley co-creator Ken Wong's delightful interactive story Florence. We also talk to the man himself, as well as checking out the rest of the week's new mobile releases including puzzler Death Squared, cat-romancing sim Purrfect Date, and Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 on Switch.

This week, Em and James attempt to answer the burning question: just what is Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, and who is it for? They also cover the release of excellent mobile Metroidvania Dandara, the less than stellar mystery game The X-Files: Deep State, and the ridiculously retro Dig Dog. Matchmaker extraordinaire Kitty Powers makes an appearance too, dropping by to talk about her new game Love Life.

The January slump is over, and February is here to inject gallons of piping hot content into your mobile device. First, James and Em struggle with the certain knowledge that Mario Kart is coming to our phones within the next year. Then they discover a Westworld game is on the way from the Fallout Shelter devs, before checking out the week's new releases, which include the likes of Dissidia Final Fantasy, Bring You Home, and Night in the Woods. Finally, they chat to the developer of new team shooter Hero Hunters.

The new release gods are smiling upon us this week, as we are graced with not one but two ingeniously creepy mobile games. The Room: Old Sins takes us back to the realm of puzzle boxes and arcane horrors, while Thumper's weird brand rhythm action has Em and James tapping their thumbs to the sound of industrial noise. Despite these distractions, they are able to pull themselves away from their screens long enough to interview the guy behind Warhammer Quest II.

So it seems Nintendo wants us to build our own game peripherals with LABO, the cardboard assembly game / craft hybrid revealed to the world this week. James and Em discuss this daft but wonderful turn up, along with the mobile release of World of Warships Blitz, twin-stick shooter Jydge, and Hero Academy 2. They also talk to the developer of new AR battler Smash Tanks.

This week we felt a great disturbance, as if a million Switches shattered in a flex of rage and were suddenly silenced. Yes, Dark Souls is coming to Nintendo's super-popular handheld, and we hope you've got yours insured.
