The Podcast Cafe

no multitracking. no overdubs. no dub chambers, marsupial thumbdrives, algebraic nerf beats, Hekter McBuckleskins nor flamingos in the snow. just a mostly quiet mix made on a mostly quiet night, underneath a february lunar eclipse.

this is mostly new music to me, coming over the transom this past month or two, and represents what I listen to when I'm not roaming the outer banks of far-fetched multi-textured beats and grooves with DJ Playaduster. the vibe here is grounded and grounding, which is exactly what I need tonight, and maybe a little bit sentimental too.

Tonight's menu: Jack Johnson "What You Thought You Need" * Stephen Marley "Ina Di Red" with Ben Harper > "Office Jimmy/Iron Bars" * Zap Mama "1000 Ways" * Lionel Loueke "Seven Teens" with Herbie Hancock * Groove Collective "Outermost" * Jon Kennedy "Tell Me How You Feel" (Bonobo remix) * Jose Gonzalez "Down the Line" * Cowboy Junkies "Sweet Jane" from "Trinity Session Revisited" * Radiohead "House of Cards" Live 02.01.08 * Iron & Wine "Trapeze Swinger" Live 08 * Cat Power "Woman Left Lonely" > "Blue" * Ry Cooder "Long Ride" from "My Blueberry Nights" * Eddie Vedder "Long Nights" from "Into the Wild"
