Directed by Roar Uthaug and based on the 2013 video game of the same name, 2018's 'Tomb Raider' is a reboot of the series which kicked off in 2002 and famously starred Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

The film stars Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, and Kristin Scott Thomas. Lara Croft embarks on a perilous journey to her father's last-known destination, hoping to solve the mystery of his disappearance.

It's been 3 years since Alex Garland's "debut" feature Ex Machina came out which put the writer/director firmly at the front and centre of sci-fi genre. Now in 2018 he returns with 'Annihilation', based off the book of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer. 

The film stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny, and Oscar Isaac, and follows a group of military scientists who enter "The Shimmer", a mysterious quarantined zone full of mutating landscapes and creatures.

Since the hit dystopian series 'The Hunger Games' ended, Jennifer Lawrence has continued to push the envelope with her roles picking somewhat atypical films to star in (see 'Mother' released in 2017). Now in 2018, Lawrence reunites with THG director Francis Lawrence with 'Red Sparrow' a spy thriller based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, and Jeremy Irons and tells the story of a Russian intelligence officer who is sent to make contact with a CIA agent in the hope of discovering the identity of a mole.
