Last week's episode was left on a bit of a cliffhanger when I started asking Jimmie Whisman about sponsorship pros and cons. Ā
This week, Jimmie shares insight into the pros and cons of podcast sponsorships and what podcasters need to be aware of.Ā This conversation is a nice setup to the following topics that we discuss:
I hope you are able to learn something from Jimmie's experience from creating a successful podcast.

5 years ago, Jimmie Whisman and James Pietragallo made the decision to create a true crime podcast called Crime in Sports.Ā With a crude setup in an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona, the comedic duo recorded their first podcast with two lapel microphones and a video camera to capture the audio.
Once that first episode was complete, they uploaded it and only got 12 total downloads.Ā
Disappointed in the downloads, James was ready to call it quits before Jimmie reminded him that it was only one episode and they had to give the podcast some time to grow.
Fast-forward 5 years later and the comedic duo now host an additional podcast, Small Town Murder and tour the United States doing live podcast recordings for thousands of adoring fans.
How did these two get here?
In this episode, Jimmie shares how he and his partner grew their podcast to garner thousands of downloads per week and now are the creators of their own fate and future.

Getting more podcast listeners is a HUGE topic for most podcasters. Am I right?
But when it comes to getting more podcast listeners, what is the right way to market those podcasts?Ā
In today's episode, I want to examine the different types of podcast marketing and help you identify which ones will work best for you.
Today's podcast was inspired after I attended a recent Clubhouse room filled with podcast creators who seemed to be caught up in the the throes of knowing which would be the best way to market their podcast to get more listeners.Ā
Here's a summary of what you're going to learn in today's episode:

"Should I put my podcast up on YouTube? I hear it's great for getting discovered."
I frequently hear this comment from podcasters who are looking to gain more listeners to their podcast.Ā But truth be told, posting a podcast up to YouTube is more than just grabbing the audio file, attaching podcast cover art and letting your podcast play underneath the card.Ā
In fact, when it comes to gaining more traction to your podcast, putting audio-only podcasts up on YouTube could be wasting valuable time for you, the podcaster.Ā In fact, your time is better spent creating original content for the YouTube platform that is an actual video instead of repurposed static images.
Here's a breakdown of what is in today's program:

Recalibrating your podcast effortsĀ when you can't publish for a week is something that might happen to you and your podcast.
In the case of today's podcast, you will learn exactly what I did this last weekend to recalibrate the efforts of my podcast, website and YouTube channel.
Sometimes life will happen to you and if you're not batching your podcast content, you might find yourself in a pinch when it comes to getting your podcast out to the masses.Ā In those instances, I feel that it might be important for you to think aboutĀ batching OR actually taking a break.
You will learn in today's podcast what ended up happening to me and what I decided to do about something that could be viewed as a setback.
It's short one today, but I hope you enjoy it.

Sponsorship strategies from radio--that can ultimately help podcasters who want to monetize--can help when it comes to approaching a potential new sponsor.Ā
Today I speak with Account Executive for Hubbard Broadcasting-Phoenix, Steve Moynihan.Ā Steve has extensive experience in radio industry sales since the early 2000s and also a digital media consultant.Ā His wisdom and experience in traditional media is like hitting the jackpot for podcasters who need answers to the countless questions about sponsorships.
There is no doubt that you will get an inside look to how radio stations acquire business for the company, but how these strategies can apply to podcasters who are constantly on the hunt toĀ monetize their program.Ā Today's episode will hopefully give you some ideas of how you can monetize your podcast.
Here's a brief breakdown of today's interview:
As I mentioned in today's episode, you can connect with him via LinkedIn if you have questions about sponsorships:

Clubhouse for podcasters has become quite the topic of conversation in the last few months.Ā Already, the app is gaining steam with those who have an iPhone and it's creating even more curiosity with those who are on Android.
But when it comes to podcasters, there has been buzz about utilizing the platform as a "podcasting" outlet for live audio streams.Ā But the big question is whether or not you can create live content on the platform and whether or not you can repurpose it as podcast content on your hosting provider.
In today's episode, we are going to go over:
There are a lot of questions to be answered in this episode.Ā I hope it helps out.

In this episode I have a little bit of fun with Vishnu and Shankar from last episode.Ā
The first part of this episode is a "speed round" of fun questions that I ask the Writer and Geek duo and fall down the rabbit hole of ASMR and the obsession with the format. Ā
A big thanks to the guys from Writer and Geek for sharing their story on my podcast.
Ā
Then a little later we will dive into the following:

Becoming the trailblazer of your podcasting niche can seem impossible when there are so many other podcasters who are creating content like yours.Ā It can feel discouraging to hear podcasts that share valuable information whilst creating an audio production that sounds top-not.Ā
But this wasn't the case for the creators of the Writer and Geek podcast. Ā
Self-proclaimed "geeks", Vishnu and Shankar Padmanabhan, had their sights set on creating content only they thought they loved.Ā Little did they know, the content they would produce would resonate with a global audience and become one of the trailblazing podcasts in India.Ā
In today's episode, I wanted to learn more about those "first days" of the Writer and Geek podcast and uncover the genesis of the idea. We will break down:
Enjoy today's episode!
