Though numbers in the tarot are not the main focus of the readings, they can be extremely helpful in giving an added layer to the reading itself. When you take a look at numbers in your reading, see if you can find any patterns. Which numbers are more prominent? Are you seeing a lot of twos, or eights? Seeing multiples of the same number can represent needing to work on a particular aspect in your life, or the same issue in your life taking different forms, are the numbers increasing or decreasing in sequence? When looking at the minor arcana, it’s pretty straightforward to associate the numbers with each card. Each of these numbers tell a story with a similar structure, played out in different ways depending on their suit. Like a regular deck of cards, each minor arcana tarot card is either a number card (ace through 10) or a court card (Page, Knight, Queen, King). Each of these has its own symbolic meaning. The common understandings/themes for the numbers 1 – 10 are: 

1 – attraction manifestation newness simplicity focus seed potential beginnings 

2 – choice relationships, duality, balance, partnership cooperation pairing reflection planning 

3 – Creativity blending fruition socializing collaboration fertilization of previous union 

4 - Stability, structure consolidation rest order establishment 

5 - Conflict, growth, change alteration making necessary changes challenges and opportunities 

6 – Harmony knowledge support combination accomplishment opportunity for success 

7 - Life lessons, growing spiritually challenges temptation getting things done taking chances 

8 - Understanding and accomplishment direction progress adjustment control 

9 - Success, coming to the end of a cycle culmination attainment security 

10 - Completion, enlightenment, stepping into the next chapter more enlightened, more wise renewal solution 

But also consider zero: nothingness and potentiality. A circle has no beginning and no ending, it’s the continuous circle of life. It symbolizes boundlessness, pure potentiality and limitless freedom In numerology everything is reduced down to a single number except master numbers 11, 22 or 33. The Major Arcana signifies major life events, turning points or big life issues. The number meanings would have a bigger impact but their energy is the same.
