Decision Day is around the corner for our couples who are weighing their options as they prepare to make one of the biggest choices of their lives.
Olajuwon meets with his former coach and mentor to reflect on his time with Katina, and although he’s happy, the newlywed is mostly concerned that her schooling will get in the way of his future plans. Michael meets with his sisters to provide an update on his marriage to Jasmina and the advice they leave him with is, to be honest when it comes to his feelings as he notes the lack of physical connection he’s had with his wife. Mark and Lindsey have been better but he’s still unsure about what his Decision Day choice will be. Noi still has doubts, but Steve is optimistic about the future when he meets with a friend to pick out a custom ring to prove his love for her.
Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.
Here’s the format of the show:
The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, and Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including HBO’s We Own This City; Netflix’s Russian Doll S2; Disney Plus’s Moon Knight; and AppleTV Plus’s Severance & Pachinko.
News Break – Alex, Bill, and Josh discuss all the latest news around Netflix’s bad month, including their expected subscriber losses, their layoffs in editorial and animation, their ill-considered (in our opinion) plans to turn things around, and a recent piece from Vanity Fair reporting on their declining commitment to premium scripted content as the seek to broaden their appeal to a wider audience.
Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, and Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. This month, the guys AGAIN all voted unanimously, but this time it was for HBOMAX, as it’s role in the newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery corporation takes shape; it debuts some stellar TV (We Own This City, Barry, The Staircase, The Flight Attendant, Hacks); and The Batman breaks records.
New Series Spotlight – Alex, Bill, and Josh watched Dustin Lance Black’s tale of murder and corruption in a small Mormon town in Utah, Under the Banner of Heaven, starring Andrew Garfield, Daisy Edgar Jones, Wyatt Russell, Sam Worthington, and Gil Birmingham. Check out the first two episodes now streaming on Hulu.

Once a month, Pop Break contributor Michael T. Ford III welcomes on to the pod one special guest to discuss one of the most buzzed about series celebrating a recent season or series finale.
This month, Michael is joined by IGN writer Lewis Parker to discuss the mind-bending workplace thriller Severance, which recently concluded its first season on AppleTV+. Topics include: Mark and Helly's roles as dual protagonists, which Lumin employees are most like our work selves, the "nature vs nurture" aspect of the severed personas, our favorite performances, whether the goofier aspects of the story ultimately worked for us, and the mystery box aspect of the story, as well as how we'd like to see the story expand in season 2.
You can follow host Michael T. Ford III on Twitter and check out his Racial Draft Podcast and various MCU review podcasts on the Racial Draft Podcast Network. Also, check out his written review of Marvel's Eternals over on Murphy's Multiverse!
Hello and welcome to Bill vs the MCU! Each month your hosts Pop Break Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin take another step on their ten month journey to rewatch the ENTIRE Marvel Studios-produced Marvel Cinematic Universe, typically focusing on three or four films from the first four phases of the MCU per episode, reminiscing about their first watches, reflecting on their latest viewings, and considering the wider multiverse ahead!
The reason this podcast came into existence is that our Editor-in-Chief has never finished the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So Alex is guiding him on his journey to actually finish the MCU over the next 10 months.
This week we are putting our lives in the hands of three separate ragtag groups of heroic misfits as we celebrate large ensembles and unlikely heroes by discussing 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man are available to stream on Disney+.
