Do you work in retail? Did you start as a part-time associate?
My first job was as a part-time salesperson in London, the UK, on Oxford street.
Looking back now, I never knew retail would take me halfway around the world, and I would eventually lead 250 stores and over 2500 employees.
Retail is many young people's first-time jobs that turn into an accidental career.
Post-COVID has put retailers at a huge vacancy rate, with lower applicants than ever before.
Plus - Our youth have had one of the hardest years of their young adult lives, and mental health issues are certainly at the forefront of the new reality of working in retail with the challenges of 2020.
Why is this important? And how can retail as an industry get involved to solve some of these pressing issues?
Well, come and find out on Wednesday, on my live LinkedIn show.
This week I chat with @orlando Bowen, Founder of OVOT together. Together, we have created a youth program that combines over 14 years of the OVOT's programs that empower youth with a retailu course to combat these issues. We are solving youth employment, lowering retail vacancies, and can't wait to share how you can get involved.
We are creating opportunities for retailers to find well-trained and future employees through this program.
