The Power of Choices: Words, Thoughts and Actions
Our choices decide our fate, and every step we take will determine our destiny. Thus, the power of choices can determine our whole future. We really need to take the time to make the right choices. In fact, we all get options in our lives, and we can make choices both knowingly and unknowingly. Every day is a critical part of our self-development, and each one of the choices we make shapes our experiences and brings us to where we are in our lives.
We have a will and choice, and if something doesn’t go our way and we don’t like where we stand, we can change that. Decision-making may not always be challenging; we are making decisions without putting much thought into it. From waking up in the morning to going to bed, the choices we make every day is our routine, and thus less idea goes into them. However, the circumstances or the people correlated with those choices influence us so much because relations and emotions are involved in it.
Sometimes, the choices can be life-changing. In fact, the choice we make determines who we are as a person, and leave us with more meaningful learning experiences. Life isn’t easy. There will be moments in life when decision-making is resilient (有彈性的). Often, the thought of the unknown and what lies subsequently in our lives gives chills down our spine because we cannot see it. We have to choose a path because the only thing we can control is making a choice. We have to face the consequences because we can’t predict the future. But fear of the results should not stop us from choosing because choices define us as a person. Every choice we make has its consequence. Nothing can alter the rationalizing of a result, and we have to endure it. Obviously, it’s human nature to feel the need to be rescued when tolerating a problem or a consequence. However, we have to keep this thing in our minds that there will not be someone who could save us always. Only we can help ourselves. Thus, the power of choices can determine our whole future. When we’re going through a crisis and have to make significant and tough decisions to dictate the right choice, it’s essential to ensure that whatever decision we come up with shouldn’t be made in a hurry. As our future depends on it, it’s not like the everyday decisions that we make. Therefore, it’s okay to contemplate and deliberate choices in front of us, rather than making remorseful decisions. It’s important to know what type of a person we are; if we are an indecisive person, allowing ourselves some time to gather information is vital to decide intellectually. It can be a possibility that rushing could lead to failure. So, we need to take the time and allow ourselves to go through things that can reduce the chances of chaos and stress.
Of course, making a decision can result in several different outcomes and results, and it can be pretty uncertain about choosing the “right” option because not all of them may be obvious. When considering each option, it’s essential to note the pros and cons and evaluate each option before deciding. We don’t just list the positives and negatives; we have to write down any likely consequences accordingly, as the power of choices can genuinely do wonders if chosen right. Significantly, a person from outside can put forward his/her point of view for us. When considering choosing an option, getting an outside opinion help us looking at things from a different perspective and clearing out the confusion. We don’t be afraid to ask for advice. It helps gain a different viewpoint on a situation. Someone may bring to light a point we hadn’t thought of. Besides, not every decision can be made without the research, evaluation of essential points, analysis and gathering information, checking sources, and examining them appropriately. Any major decision requires a certain amount of information that we may need to locate and assess. We are quite sure that information gathering is part of our decision-making process on essential matters. It can’t be left out because any critical decision could fail without sources and research.
Once we have chosen our decisions, it’s important to act accordingly. We should keep in mind that thoughts without actions are ineffective. Thus, performance is significant once the plan is all laid out. Now, it’s time to get to work and act on our decision because we have the power of choices.
The choices of words are necessary for our everyday lives. We have to eliminate negative phrases such as “I can’t,” “I always give up,” or “I am bad.” When we find ourselves saying, “I am lazy,” a better way to frame this in our minds is that, “Today I did not accomplish as much as I wanted to. I will make a list for tomorrow so I can complete all of my tasks!” Additionally, we may try to avoid complaining at all costs. If we are working with a particularly difficult thing, it’s better to try to view the experience as a positive challenge rather than a negative situation. This will allow us to remain in good spirits and in the most productive way possible.
Another way to train our brains to be more optimistic is by recording positive events in our days, no matter how small they are. If we pass a particularly beautiful garden, we take a picture or make a note. If we have a productive conversation with people, we keep a record of the highlights. By doing this, we, certainly, train ourselves to focus on the positives around us. And every day, we make sure that we keep an open mindset to learning about and practicing optimism. It is not easy, but with hard work and diligence, we will be able to remain optimistic in the face of negativity. With optimism in our hearts and minds, we can walk into the battlefield of life everyday ready to create positive change.
Further, having positive attitudes of being optimistic about situations, interactions, and ourselves is crucial to us. People with positive attitudes remain hopeful and see the best even in difficult situations. In contrast, those with negative attitudes may be more pessimistic and disagreeable, and typically expect the worst outcome in tough situations. If we have positive mental attitudes, we can deal with stress and negative situations in a much healthier way. With positive attitudes, we learn to see the thoughts behind people’s actions, and why they may have acted the way they did. Rather than jumping to a harmful conclusion, we can understand where people may be coming from. A positive outlook teaches us to be grateful for the good things in our work and life. We’ll approach every day with an appreciative mindset.
Clearly, having a positive attitude is immensely beneficial, yet it’s easier said than done. A positive attitude is not just about sporting that smile on our face every time, it is more than that. It is about maintaining that optimistic mindset and attitudes even when things are in utter chaos. When we feed our minds with positive thoughts, we see amazing changes around us. We won’t blame ourselves or others. We will be in total control of our emotions, and try to seek a valuable lesson in every setback we experience.
Moreover, a positive attitude is known to be linked with the feeling of happiness. Happiness is a state of mind; it comes from within and not dependent on external factors. When we think positively, we will be in harmony and feel happy. To put it simply, with a positive attitude, we can be happy right now. We, then, build our self-confidence. We will start feeling better about ourselves, and treat ourselves with more respect and love. We will be willing to take on new challenges. We are much lively, energetic and healthy. With positive thinking, we achieve emotional balance, stay focused and come up with the right decisions in challenging situations.
Again, our thoughts determine our feelings and actions. We always have the power of choices: the choices of words, thoughts and actions to determine our lives every day, no matter what situations they are. If things are not working in our favor, instead of fretting, work towards our goals with positive attitudes of choices, and we will see amazing results soon!
