An accidental resilience researcher and cheerleader to all, Amber Robbins has a passion for strengthening families and teens. After her own family began to face intense bullying and aggression, she went back to graduate school to earn a M.Ed. in School Counseling in an effort to help other children and teens who face these challenges. Little did she realize when she began her educational pursuits that her family would continue to face bullying in all its dark forms: verbal, physical, emotional, cyber, stalking and copious amounts of relational aggression, for over 5 years! These impactful experiences gave Amber the insight that we can and should do so much more to assist targets of bullying, so she created Stand and Cheer Co. and S.T.A.N.D. Academy to accomplish just that. Amber is a member of the Utah Suicide Prevention Coalition, certified in Teen Mental Health First Aid, QPR and MBSR. She also serves on several parent and professional boards that focus on supporting children, teens and families. Amber is passionate about educating adults in authority about the deep impact that bullying can have on those who are targeted, and reminding them to take a STAND and address these incidents. She loves to remind students that their words and actions have power, and is determined to empower upstanders everywhere to take action and assist, by challenging them to S.T.A.N.D. with her.
In this episode Brigette and Amber discuss what bullying looks like and how its destroying lives of children AND adults. Amber shares practical tips for how to overcome and work through situations and how to become self aware enough to realize when the bully might actually be yourself.
