You have all said at one point in your life, “I forgive you,” or received forgiveness for something you have done. However, do you understand the true power of forgiveness? Understand how it actually affects you and others. There is more to it than just playing nice.
As Spirit, you are in a state of absolute acceptance. There’s nothing to forgive. Your actual state of being is a state of oneness, which is love, connection, and acceptance. So the ultimate truth is, there’s actually no need to forgive. However, you are here in a body on this planet.
In your human condition, you get into situations where you blame, judge, criticize, feel victimized, feel hard done by. And generally, you want to exact some form of revenge in some manner. You may want the person that has offended you to be punished for what they did to you.
This causes you to get tangled up in certain lower, denser vibrations of emotion, laying judgment, criticism, victimization, revenge, wanting punishment to happen. And when you do that, obviously, you are not in a state of acceptance. And you are not in a state of forgiveness Forgiveness is a little stop on the way to acceptance in your human scenario.
Acceptance is an ultimate state where you accept everything and everyone as it is. Forgiveness is the transition that says, “you did that, but I forgive you.” The vibration of acceptance is actually higher than the vibration of forgiveness.
It is good to forgive, best to forget. Forgiveness is the process of letting go. Many of you feel that you forgive someone, but you do not forget the transgression. “I have forgiven you, but I haven’t really because I’m still remembering this thing that you did.” To forgive and forget is more challenging a gesture than many are capable of doing.
It is easy to say the words but do you really feel the sentiment of acceptance? One is more or less an outward emotional vibration. In contrast, the other is an inward motion and vibration, which is more powerful than an outward one? Therefore, learning how to forgive and forget is a true spiritual practice.
If you are looking for a clear direction, a quote regarding forgiveness in the bible is self-explanatory and emphatic. The biblical sermon on forgiveness, as quoted in Matthew 18:21, 22,is very appro pro in this matter. Peter came up and asked Jesus, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.”
You can readily learn how to forgive someone who has wronged you in many cases. The power of forgiveness is for everyone. However, there is that one person so many of you have a problem forgiving. This is not your spouse, a co-worker, the person who dented your fender. Instead, it is someone much closer to home. It is you.
When you think about the term forgive but never forget, the person that most commonly comes to mind is you. And in fact, that’s often, the last person you need to forgive on your journey to acceptance is to forgive yourself.
It is time to think about what you haven’t forgiven yourself for and allow yourself to be in that vibration, having those thoughts and feeling those feelings.
If you don’t release the energy of holding on to that anger and judgment, the energy gets stuck. The energy goes round and round within you?
Because while you have not forgiven, you are still in hurt, blame, judgment, criticism, victimization, and so on. And often, there is mostly a level of resistance involved in all of those vibrations and those scenarios. So if there is resistance, then there’s a level of stuckness. You are stuck in that place until you can forgive and accept. Until then, you can’t move on.
Some things are easier to forgive than others. For example, how can you forgive the drunk driver that runs over your best friend? That’s hard, isn’t it? But if you have ever experienced this for yourself or witnessed it in another, you would have recognized some unwanted effects. There are diseases caused by unforgiveness.
Some of these issues are as stated in the Counseling Directory of the UK’s website:
When you hold on to anger and pain, you can get to the point where you get sick, literally get sick. For you to be healthy, your energy needs to flow. It’s not a healthy state to continuously carry those forms of resistance within your system. And so, if you are in blame, judgment, victimization, and all of those vibrations that go along with lack of forgiveness, your energy is not in a state of flow. And if you allow it to build and build and build and build within your system, and you do not release it, at some point, it can turn into an illness.
Many people get to that point where they suffer physically, and it doesn’t result in a physical illness. But, it develops into anxiety, or stress, or frustration. And of course, those things are, as they say, in the medical industries, those are the silent killers.
So when you’re forgiving, it’s always good to understand that forgiveness is not just an outward action towards someone else; it’s also for your own well-being.
There is no resistance in acceptance. So you could jump straight to acceptance, or if you can’t quite get to acceptance, you can work on forgiveness to help you let go so you can accept.
One of the best ways to do this is to connect with your higher self, your spiritual essence. There is no need for forgiveness in the spiritual realm, as stated earlier. Spirit just simply is in a constant state of acceptance. And the easiest way to activate connection to your higher self is through a regular meditation practice.
So the best advice I can give you is to meditate, forgive and forget, love others and love yourself. The power of forgiveness is unlimited. Remember always that you are the light of the world, and in order to do so you must show forth all the gifts of the spirit including ease in forgiving.
