Welcome. If your mind has been everywhere except where your feet are, this one is for you.
Before we go any further, here’s the bottom line up front.
God’s wisdom brings you back to the present because that is where obedience lives. When you drift mentally into yesterday or tomorrow, wisdom gently pulls you back to now.
📜 OUR SPRINGBOARD FOR TODAY’S DISCUSSION IS:
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”Matthew 6:34 (ESV)
Now let me tell you why this matters.
Most people are not disconnected from God because they do not care.
They are disconnected because they are distracted.
Their bodies are here, but their minds are rehearsing conversations that already happened or predicting outcomes that have not arrived.
The past keeps replaying. The future keeps demanding attention. And the present quietly slips by unnoticed.
That is where peace erodes.
Not because life is overwhelming, but because presence is missing.
God’s wisdom consistently calls us back to where He is working.
Right here.Right now.
Wisdom does not deny the past or ignore the future. It simply refuses to let either one dominate the moment.
I have noticed in my own life that when I feel rushed internally, I am rarely present externally.
I may be doing the right things, but my attention is divided. My listening is shallow. My awareness is thin.
That is usually wisdom tapping me on the shoulder.
Not with condemnation.With invitation.
“Come back.”
Staying present is not about emptying your mind.It is about anchoring your attention.
God often speaks in the moment we are most tempted to rush through.
The conversation you half-hear.The task you are eager to finish. The pause you are tempted to skip.
Wisdom slows you just enough to notice.
Presence is where discernment sharpens.Presence is where gratitude grows.Presence is where obedience becomes simple.
When you are present, you are not trying to manage outcomes. You are simply responding to what God is asking right now.
Here is the clarifying truth.
Anxious people live in the future.Regretful people live in the past.Wise people live in the present.
That does not mean wise people have no plans or no memories. It means they refuse to let either steal today.
Jesus was never rushed.Never distracted.Never pulled out of the moment by fear of what was coming.
He was fully present wherever He stood.
Wisdom invites you into that same posture.
Not frantic.Not detached.
Grounded.
So let me ask you something honestly.
Where has your attention been drifting lately?
Are you replaying what you wish you had said? Are you worrying about what might happen next? Are you physically present but mentally elsewhere?
Wisdom may already be whispering.
Not telling you to fix everything.Just asking you to come back to the moment God has placed you in.
Because this moment is where grace is available. This moment is where obedience is possible. This moment is where peace can be found.
So today, do not ask God for control over tomorrow.
Ask Him for awareness right now.
Staying present is not passive.
It is an active trust that God is enough for this moment.
Closing Whisper (Prayer)
God, bring my attention back to where You are working right now.Help me release the pull of yesterday and the pressure of tomorrow.Teach me to walk wisely by staying present with You in this moment.Amen.
