  • 25-101 The Surprise Whispers of God

Sometimes, we expect God to speak only in church or during our quiet time. But what if His whisper comes when we least expect it—in the middle of a traffic jam, a grocery line, or even during a personal crisis? God's voice doesn’t follow our schedule. It breaks through the noise of everyday life and often catches us off guard, not to confuse us, but to remind us that He’s always present—always speaking.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:"God called to him out of the bush, ‘Moses, Moses!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’" —Exodus 3:4 (ESV)

Moses wasn’t praying or in the temple when God called his name. He was tending sheep, doing the same thing he’d likely done every day for forty years. Yet in that ordinary moment, God broke through with a burning bush and a call that would change history.

God still does this today. Maybe not through flaming shrubbery, but through subtle, surprising nudges—a word from a stranger, a song on the radio, or even a sudden sense of peace during chaos. I once heard God speak loudest while in a friends home about my oldest son, Steven, when all I could do was listen.

God loves to show up where we least expect Him. It’s not about where we are—it’s about whether we’re listening. He’s not confined to the sacred; He invades the ordinary. So be alert. That random encounter, that unexpected detour—it might just be God whispering your name.

Question of the Day:When was the last time you heard God speak in an unexpected place?

Let’s Pray:Lord, help us to hear You—even when You speak in places we don’t expect. Make our hearts sensitive to Your whisper, no matter where we are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • TOV 25-100 Relational Boundaries: Protecting Your Marriage, Your Mind, and Your Mission

We don’t just fall into temptation—we drift there. Slowly. Subtly. Boundaries aren’t about fear; they’re about wisdom, protection, and purpose. If you're serious about honoring your wife, your calling, and your walk with Christ, then you’ve got to take relational boundaries seriously. This is about more than staying out of trouble—it's about staying faithful, staying focused, and staying clean in heart and mind.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity..." — Ephesians 5:3 (ESV)

The enemy doesn’t always come at you with a sword—sometimes he comes with a smile. A seemingly innocent text. A “harmless” lunch. A growing emotional connection that was never meant to be yours. The fall doesn’t start in the bed; it starts in the mind. It starts with compromise. God’s standard isn’t “how far is too far?” It’s “not even a hint.”

Your marriage is sacred ground. Your mind is a battlefield. Your mission is too important. That means you’ve got to set boundaries—and stick to them. Never alone with another woman. No flirty banter. No secret conversations. It’s not legalism—it’s leadership. Real men lead by protecting what matters most.

Relational boundaries don’t weaken your freedom—they guard it. They don’t hinder love—they protect it. You’re not just guarding against adultery—you’re standing watch over your marriage, your integrity, and your God-given calling.

Question of the Day:What boundaries do you need to reinforce right now to protect your marriage and your mind?

Let’s Pray:Father, give us the wisdom and strength to set strong boundaries in our relationships. Help us to honor our wives, protect our minds, and live above reproach for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • 25-100 Thankful for the Voice That Guides

Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you” for the blessings we can see. It’s also about recognizing the divine whispers that guided us when we didn’t know what to do. Think about those moments—a Scripture that struck deep, a person’s words that landed right when you needed them, or even a season of pain that eventually revealed God’s quiet direction. Today, we take a pause to say, “Thank You, Lord, for speaking—even when I wasn’t always listening.”

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." —1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)

God speaks in countless ways, and every time He does, it’s an act of grace. Maybe His Word jumped off the page at the exact right moment. Maybe a friend unknowingly delivered a message from heaven. Or maybe, in a season of heartbreak, God didn’t change the situation—but He changed you through it.

Those whispers are sacred. They don’t always come with clarity or comfort, but they come with purpose. And when we train our hearts to give thanks, even in uncertainty, we begin to treasure His voice more deeply.

Today, try journaling a few of those moments—where God spoke, nudged, or comforted you. Let gratitude flood those memories. The more we give thanks for His voice, the more attuned we become to hearing it.

Question of the Day:What’s one moment—big or small—when you knew God was speaking? Have you thanked Him for it?

Let’s Pray:Lord, thank You for every whisper, every word, every quiet moment of guidance. Open my heart to remember and give thanks, even when Your voice is soft. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Parable: The Voice on the Wind

In the small mountain town of Riverbend, nestled beneath whispering pines and storm-kissed cliffs, there lived a young man named Caleb.

Caleb was a worship leader at a local church, but more than that, he was a wanderer of sorts—always searching, always listening for something deeper. His mother used to say he could hear a storm coming before the clouds even formed. She believed he had a gift. But Caleb, even in his faith, felt haunted by silence.

After the sudden loss of his mother, the silence became deafening.

No matter how loud the music, how many songs he wrote, or how many prayers he whispered under his breath, he couldn't feel God like he used to. Not in the sanctuary, not in the melodies. His heart grew heavy, numb from the absence.

One evening, under the weight of another sleepless night, Caleb left town and climbed a trail his mother once loved. The path weaved through dense woods, across a stream, and up to a cliff that overlooked the entire valley.

As he stood there, drenched in moonlight and silence, he cried out, “God, where are You? I’ve sung Your name a thousand times. Why can’t I hear You now?”

    And then, the wind stirred.

Not a violent gust. Not a roaring storm. Just a gentle breeze… brushing through the pine needles above, bending the tall grass at his feet, and dancing lightly across his face like a familiar hand.

And he heard it—not with his ears, but with something deeper.

It wasn’t words. It was presence.

    It was peace.

It was the voice of God.

Not in thunder. Not in fire. But in the whisper of wind. In the quiet that follows grief. In the hush that speaks louder than a choir.

    Caleb sank to his knees.

Memories began to flood his heart: his mother humming a hymn while making bread, the laughter of children in Sunday school, the stillness of sunrise after a long night… All of it now sounded like Him. Looked like Him. Felt like Him.

He realized he’d been listening for a sound, but God was speaking in everything.

    The Lesson:

Just like Elijah in the cave, Caleb had searched for God in the spectacular. But the voice of God is often in the ordinary, the everyday, the barely-noticed moments that shape our lives.

God’s voice is in the friend who calls just when you need it. In the warmth of morning coffee. In the stillness of a room after prayer. In the laughter of a child. In the wind brushing past your soul when you’ve forgotten how to feel.

It’s not always a shout. Sometimes, it’s a sacred whisper.

“After the fire came a gentle whisper… and Elijah heard it.” —1 Kings 19:12 (ESV)

Final Thought:God’s voice is not just found in churches and choirs. It's found in you. In the stillness. In the kindness. In the moments you didn’t even know He was speaking.

So slow down. Breathe deep. And listen…

You’ll hear Him—in the laughter, the silence, the wind… in the voice of God.

  • TOV 25-099 Setting Boundaries with Temptation

Temptation doesn’t send an RSVP—it shows up uninvited and always at the worst possible time. Jesus wasn’t warning His disciples in Matthew 26:41 for dramatic effect—He was calling them to battle. “Watch and pray,” He said, because temptation isn’t theoretical—it’s a guarantee. And He knew what we often forget: our spirit may want to do the right thing, but our flesh is weak.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." — Matthew 26:41 (ESV)

There’s no shame in being tempted. The problem comes when we act like we’re immune to it. Temptation is sneaky—it slides into your DMs, into late-night TV, into that quiet moment when you’re tired and alone. That’s why boundaries matter. If you wait until the moment of temptation to set limits, you’re already too late.

Build walls before the battle. Cut off access to the things that lead you down the wrong road. Create accountability, guard your eyes, your ears, and your heart. Pray like your soul depends on it—because it does. Temptation doesn’t make you a failure. But failing to prepare? That’s where most men fall.

Jesus knew the power of preemptive prayer. In Gethsemane, He was preparing for the cross by leaning on the Father. And He told the disciples to do the same—to watch and pray. Today, He’s telling us the same thing.

Question of the Day:What boundaries do you need to set today to guard yourself from tomorrow’s temptation?

Let’s Pray:Lord, I confess that my flesh is weak. Help me to watch and pray with intentionality. Give me the wisdom to set godly boundaries and the strength to stand firm when temptation strikes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • 25-099 The Silence Between Whispers

Some of the hardest moments in our walk with God are not when He says “no,” but when He says nothing at all. Those quiet seasons can feel lonely, confusing—even painful. But what if His silence isn’t rejection… but preparation?

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:"How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?" — Psalm 13:1 (ESV)

David cried out with raw honesty, feeling forgotten by God. But if you read the rest of the psalm, you’ll find that even in silence, David chose trust. He remembered God’s steadfast love. That’s the key—recognizing that God's silence isn’t abandonment.

Sometimes, God is quieter because He’s working deeper. Think of seeds planted in the soil—silent, unseen, but growing. You don’t hear roots forming, but they are. God may not be speaking audibly in your storm, but He’s anchoring your soul.

Looking back, I can see how God's hand was guiding me even when I felt most alone. The job I lost? It made room for something better. The unanswered prayer? It revealed something in me that needed healing first.

God’s silence is never empty. It’s often full of movement. And when the whisper comes again, you’ll realize He was never gone.

Question of the Day:Have you ever looked back and realized that God was guiding you—even when He seemed silent?

Let’s Pray:Lord, in the silence, help me to trust that You are still near. Teach me to wait with faith, knowing You are always working for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • The Parable of the Torn Roof

    It started with a storm.

Not the kind you see on Doppler radar, but the kind that creeps quietly into the soul—layer by layer, like dust in the Arizona wind.

It was Friday night, April 14th, 2023. A worship night was scheduled at South Valley Church, just off Baseline Road in Phoenix. The sanctuary, while modest, was packed. Folding chairs lined the aisles, lights dimmed low, and outside, thunder rolled somewhere far off, like a distant drumbeat warming up for something divine.

Among the worshippers sat Maya Thompson, 17 years old, a senior at Desert Vista High School. To most, she was just a quiet girl—good grades, introverted, barely spoke in class. But inside? Maya was drowning.

Her dad had left last year. Her mom worked two jobs and barely spoke more than three words a day. Her once-vibrant faith had dried up, and lately, her prayers felt more like texts sent to a dead phone number.

She didn’t come to worship that night because she believed.

She came because she was done.

When the band began playing, Maya stayed seated. People around her raised hands and sang, but she just stared forward, arms crossed, expression flat. Until the room went quiet.

A soft piano began. One note at a time.

    Then the worship leader spoke:

“This next song is a declaration of who God is. Not what we feel. Not what we see. But truth. Eternal, holy, unshakable truth. Even when our world is falling apart.”

    Then came the opening lyrics:

🎶 “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain…Holy, holy is He…”

The moment the first line hit the air, something cracked.

    Not a sound. A presence.

Maya blinked. It felt like the roof of the church had been torn away—not physically, but spiritually. One minute she was sitting in a crowded sanctuary in Phoenix, and the next—she was standing in something eternal.

    A vision? A dream? A mercy?

She didn’t know. But what she saw—she’d never forget.

Before her stood a throne, surrounded by light like fire and crystal, with colors she had no name for. Around it were figures—some with wings, some with crowns—all worshiping, not out of obligation, but as if their entire being existed for this one act.

And in the center of it all—Jesus.

Not blond-haired and blue-eyed like in the paintings. No, this was Jesus in glory. A Lion in the face of a Lamb. Power wrapped in peace. Holiness so overwhelming, Maya fell to her knees, trembling, sobbing.

    And the song continued:

🎶 “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,Who was and is and is to come…”

Suddenly, Maya saw her own heart—like a mirror shattered on the floor. Every sharp edge of doubt, pain, anger… and how He was gathering the pieces with hands marked by scars and glory.

She didn’t hear a voice, but she understood:

“You were never alone. Even in the silence, I was singing over you.”

Back in the sanctuary, she had fallen to her knees—others didn’t notice, caught up in their own worship. But in that moment, Heaven touched earth.

Maya stood—eyes still full of tears—and raised her hands for the first time in years.

Not because she had it all together. Not because life had magically changed. But because she had seen the King of Kings……and realized He saw her.

    The Lesson

Sometimes we sing with joy.Sometimes we sing with desperation. And sometimes—Heaven sings back.

“Revelation Song” isn’t just lyrics—it’s a glimpse. A glimpse into eternity. A veil pulled back for the hurting, the hungry, the hopeless… to remind us:

God is still on the throne. The Lamb has already won.And the angels haven’t stopped singing.

    We just need to listen.

    Bible Verse

Revelation 4:8 (ESV)“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

So the next time you hear that song, whether in a packed church or alone in your car, remember Maya. Remember the torn roof. And remember—you’re not just singing a song. You’re joining the choir of Heaven.

    Amen.
