Books On Purpose

The Power of Habit: 6

Listen Later

Hey Shoremates, Welcome back to Mind Your Helm.  The podcast designed for those who who want the best books broken down into small, bite sized pieces.

In today's episode, we cover The Montgomery Bus Boycott and Saddle Back Church.  Did you know that Rosa Parks was not the first black woman to be arrested leading up to the Civil Rights movement?  But it was her who caused for it to occur.  In this episode we talk about the powerful forces causing both of these movements to be successful.

Action Items. For ease of reference they are listed in the show notes as well:

  1. Is there anything you see in society that you think needs a huge and drastic change? If so, how badly do you want it?  What are you willing to give up to see it come into reality.
  2. From the answer from action item one, what social groups are you a part of?  Do your friends have any friends that they can call on as well to help you build a plan to accomplish the change?
  3. Brainstorm how you can turn your plan into something that becomes socially unacceptable not to be part of.  For example, during the Montgomery Bus Boycott all the church congregations made promises that they would not take the bus, causing for it to be socially unacceptable to take the bus.

Shoremates, I hope that this episode was valuable to you.  This truly is a life changing book, and I highly recommend adding it to your bookshelf for greater detail on each chapter.

Always, always remember.  You’ve got this.
