A leader in the religious community and a woman on the fringe of society would have had little in common. But what they share is their desperate need, and their faith in Jesus to help them. He does. And in so doing, Jesus makes known that nothing, not physical suffering, not social rejection, not lack of resources, nothing, not even death, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:31-39; Mark 4:35-5:43).
