On this episode of The Power of Love Show with TJ and Taj Jackson we welcome special guest, Julia Morin.

Julia Morin is a writer, a Certified Grief Educator and Grief Support Specialist, and the face behind the Instagram community @girl_meets_grief, which she launched over Mother's Day weekend in 2021.

Julia is a childhood grief survivor who lost her mother suddenly and tragically 27 years ago when she was eight years old — less than one week after Mother's Day — and has experienced a number of other losses in her life.

She is fiercely passionate about normalizing conversations and ending the stigma around grief, as she continues to navigate the various manifestations of this significant early loss in her own life.

Julia's writing on grief and mental health has been published by ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’, ‘The Mighty’ and ‘The Manifest-Station’ among others, and she has been a guest on podcasts including ‘Got Grief’ and ‘How to Grieve’.

Naila Francis is a writer, grief coach, death midwife and ordained interfaith minister.

She holds space and offers ritual for people at many of life's sacred thresholds, including birth, marriage, death and other transitional passages.

Her work is often informed by her love of poetry, the gifts of healing rooted in nature and community and her commitment to expanding our grief literacy and death awareness.

She is a founding member of Salt Trails, a Philadelphia collective making grief public and visible through community rituals.

For many years, Naila worked as a journalist, interviewing prominent artists from all backgrounds.

She found her way to the vocations of companioning others through grief and dying after suffering several personal losses in her own life, including the consecutive deaths of a beloved father figure and her father.

She considers herself an ardent joy enthusiast and brings a compassionate presence and open heart to all she does.

On this episode of The Power of Love Show with TJ and Taj Jackson we welcome special guest & President of Hope After Grief, Inc., Sydney Ford, Esq.

Sydney Ford is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Relations, and a graduate of the Emory University School of Law where she obtained her juris doctorate degree.

She has been a juvenile defense attorney for the past few years, and followed this path because of the number of grieving children involved in the juvenile justice system.

Sydney’s article on trauma-informed pre-trial diversion programs for our grieving youth in the juvenile justice system was selected for publication by the Northwestern Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology Online.

She has also recently testified for the South Carolina Joint Committee on Children in favor of providing grief resources for children in South Carolina schools.

Sydney wrote and published her own children’s book, “Grief Came to Visit Today,” and launched a nonprofit organization called “Hope After Grief Inc.,” that provides scholarships to high school seniors who have had a parent or sibling die.

Sydney lost her dad when she was 10 years old and became an advocate for grieving children at age 16 when she began going into elementary schools and talking to classes about the emotions associated with grief.

Since that time, she has found ways to support grieving children by becoming a board member for the National Alliance for Children’s Grief, becoming a buddy and ambassador for Kate’s Club, and meeting with Senators and the South Carolina Superintendent of Education to advocate for our grieving youth.

Dr. Pantelyat is a movement disorders neurologist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he directs the Johns Hopkins Atypical Parkinsonism Center and the Johns Hopkins Center for Music and Medicine.

Dr. Pantelyat's work is focused on the discovery and validation of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for parkinsonian disorders and on music-based treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Pantelyat has been the primary investigator for:

* DRUM-PD, a controlled study of West African Drum circle classes for Parkinson disease (significant improvements in quality of life were found after 6 weeks of drumming);

* Parkinsonics, a controlled randomized crossover study of choir singing vs support group attendance for Parkinson disease (objective voice loudness and motor improvements were found);

* Guitar-PD, a randomized delayed-start study of group guitar classes in Parkinson disease (significant improvements in anxiety and mood were noted at the end of study interventions),

* and DRUM-PD/HD, a pilot parallel group study of side by side drumming for patients with Parkinson disease and Huntington disease as well as their care partners.

Lori Mier is the creator and owner of her story. She loves chai tea and sunrise hikes. She owns Blue Mountain Path Coaching LLC where she offers healing experiences as an author, Ecotherapist guide and photographer.

Her first children's book, ‘Merin and Her Very Bright Star: A Story of Resiliency’, was deeply inspired by her own story of loss and healing.

Lori is on a mission to help normalize grief, healing & having difficult conversations.

Lori has a degree in Social Work and created a not-for-profit hiking program called ‘Through Hiking’ along with her husband to offer guided hikes to agencies and youth in foster care.

She serves on the Equity Committee for Rockingham County Public Schools and also sits on the Board of Directors for RISE Foundation in Waynesboro, VA where she is committed to education, political action, and racial justice work.

Although she is not originally from Virginia, Lori feels the most at home where she lives in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband and son.

On this episode of The Power of Love Show with TJ and Taj Jackson we welcome special guest, David Richman.

After working in a variety of industries–including launching two start-ups–David Richman entered the financial industry as an advisor. Several years in, he found that his interests were more in managing people and businesses than in managing money. Among other pursuits, David now works with a nationally-recognized financial services firm committed to keeping the advisor in the forefront.

Over the last 10 years, David has completed over 50 triathlons, including 15 Ironman-distance triathlons, more than 50 runs longer than marathon distance, including several 24-hour runs, running 85 miles in Mexico in the heat of the summer, running 104 miles straight from Santa Barbara to Manhattan Beach, and most recently biking 4,700-miles in just six weeks as he met with the participants of his upcoming book exploring the emotional side of cancer.

As a former sedentary, over-weight, smoker, David knew that he needed to focus not on what others wanted out of him, but on what he wanted out of life. Through lessons learned in business and sport, David introduces the concept of the “middle of the pack” and discusses how to get more out of ourselves than ever imagined. He applies this concept to life and business and adds value to the people he works with coming from the perspective of the “middle of the pack.”

David was born in Miami and raised mostly in the Los Angeles area. He and his wife split their time between homes in Southern California and Southern Nevada. He has worked in real estate, lending, construction, started both an animation company and a skin care company, and then went into financial services. He has college-aged twins who are as aspirational as their father.
