The Power of Myofascial Release for Women's Wellbeing

Myofascial release is a type of therapy aimed at relieving tension and pain in the body's muscles and connective tissues. This therapy involves gentle, sustained pressure on the fascial tissues to help improve movement and reduce discomfort. Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and supports various structures in the body, including muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. It is a continuous web-like network that runs throughout the entire body, providing structural support and protection. Often used by physical and massage therapists, myofascial release can help with various conditions, such as chronic pain, headaches, and muscle tightness. By releasing tight spots and improving blood flow, this technique helps restore the body’s natural alignment and function, promoting overall well-being.

In this episode with our return guest, Karen Remele, we talk about how myofascial release can be a powerful healing tool for addressing physical traumas in the body, including those resulting from sexual abuse and reproductive issues among women. Karen's journey began as a modern jazz dancer and instructor until a horrific motorcycle accident changed her life. She is now dedicated to helping others live pain-free existences and educating them on the benefits of myofascial release. Karen is both a licensed physical therapist assistant and a licensed massage therapist. Ultimately, she became a student and expert instructor at John. F Barnes MFR therapy, which she has now practiced for over 25 years
