The good thing about prayers is that you have the option of praying to whoever you want for whatever you want.  When you turn over your struggles, sorrows and suffering to a higher power, you are relieved of the burden of going it alone.  You have the best power in and out of this world.

When prayers go up, blessings come down. Believe you will be blessed; believe that miracles will come your way.  G-d always answers our prayers, but sometimes the answer is no.  Always remember that everything happens for a reason, and sooner or later, that reason will show itself.
