"The Preaching Guy" - Jim Dewar

Jim Dewar, Astoria's Preaching Guy, talks about one of Christianity’s most preposterous claims, that God sent Jesus, the "logos", to be the bridge between him & humanity!

Astoria's Preaching Guy, Jim Dewar, talks about how Jesus viewed leadership in Mark 10! (Spoiler Alert: It's not all about you!)

Astoria's Preaching Guy, Jim Dewar, talks about the importance of building sabbath rest into your life. Sabbath is a gift from God to renew & refresh you; it's not a club to make you feel guilty for not observing it correctly!

Astoria's Preaching Guy, Jim Dewar, explores how faith is actually a transferring of loyalty from one master to another! And he gives you an opportunity to declare to God just how you intend to make that loyalty known!

Jim heads to Cana of Galilee from John 2 to see how Jesus’ first miracle was actually a snapshot of what the Gospel (“good news”) is all about: Religion can’t save you, but Jesus can!

Jim chooses to focus on the “as you go” aspect of the Great Commission. Churches & Christ-followers need to be way more intentional about being where the non-churched are, since they’re not exactly beating a path to our worship places to learn about the gospel!

Jim unpacks Jesus' story of the wedding feast in Matthew 22 to talk about the 4 possible responses we humans have to the amazing invitation of God to enter in to his kingdom! While encouraging & hope-filled, Jesus words are also filled with caution to those who might be tempted to take God’s grace for granted!

Jesus didn’t mix words when it came to what it meant to follow him. In this message from Matthew 16, Jim looks at what it means to deny yourself, take up your cross, & follow Jesus.

Astoria's Preaching Guy, Jim Dewar, talks about the power of greed in the life of God's people. Although the message is titled "Money", it's more about what the desire for money says about us. Looking at the tragic account of Achan from Joshua 7, we learn that the real question is, Who do I trust?!
