For all of the problems with our medical care system, most people have some form of coverage and can see a physician or access a hospital and a pharmacy. Yes, many are under-served or have had their access denied entirely. But, most people can still count on calling their doctor, scheduling an appointment, and be seen when they need it.

Consider for a moment, however, that our nation faced a major emergency- perhaps an EMP, an economic crash, or a deadly epidemic. We have seen how little it can take during a crisis before looting starts. In a major disaster, however, some of the first places to be looted will be hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.

The weather is breaking here on the east coast and nervous thoughts of bathing suits and tight shirts are sweeping across the land. The whole inventory of what went into your mouth over the holiday season and through the deepest darkest days of winter. There are a few times a year when you have the ability to hook people on fitness. Let me be clear it is about hooking people. Fitness is not a 6 week program. It’s incorporation or a fusion into your life. You start one day and if you are lucky you get to carry it on until the day you die. 

There are some really great routines that I have come up with that can both increase your skillset as well as allow you to get in shape. It doesn’t have to be about huddling into a gym and doing pull ups. As much as I love it, it doesn’t have to be about studying a martial art or taking Krav Maga.

Could drug-resistant tuberculosis be the next great pandemic? Most people think of tuberculosis as being a long-gone disease, a throwback to the Colonial or Medieval Eras. Also known as “consumption”, tuberculosis is thought of as something modern medicine has eliminated. Not only is this factually incorrect, tuberculosis has joined the ranks of drug-resistant bacterial infections.

When antibiotics no longer kill a particular bacterial infection, the entire population is at risk of that infection in a much larger way than a handful of people who refuse vaccinations. Without effective antibiotics, there is no treatment.
