Religious people can easily be consumed by conspiracy and speculation. This is not a new problem, but an ancient one, that we continue to wrestle today. Conspiracy and speculation surround even the cross and the place of the Skull where Jesus was crucified. But focusing on such things yields a life of poverty, because the Cross of Christ is about self-less love not endless speculation.

Jesus radically engages with those who come to arrest him in the Garden of Gethsemane. His disciple, Peter, draws his sword to defend Jesus, but Jesus rebukes him saying, "Put your sword away." We can become misguided, like Peter, believing that we need to defend Jesus, but the gospel invites us to engage through peace.

What is truth? A valid question in our time. When alternative narratives of truth are available discernment can be difficult. Jesus' example before Pilate shows us that trusting in God's providence gives us quiet confidence in a world full of alternative truths.

Our lifeless as followers of Jesus are often plagued by moments of fail and denial. But God can turn out moments of denial into moments of revival.

What a profound thing it is to read of Jesus' prayer for us today. Wrapped within it are 2 main concerns that Jesus asks God the Father for. First, that believers would have complete unity with one another, as God the Father and God the Son share. Second, that this unity among believers would be a testimony to the world about the gospel message. Reading these words, it is incumbent upon Jesus' followers to take him seriously; that if we want to see Jesus' glory, then we need to make Jesus' reconciliation our priority.

It is unusual for a person in power to set aside their power and authority. Yet, the one who has all power and authority in heaven and on earth lays aside his eternal glory so that we might experience eternal life. Then, when we look to an authority other than Jesus we experience an inferior life. We must understand that Jesus is the Father's gift to us (John 3:16), but that we, also, are the Father's gift to his Son (John 17:2).

The Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost, the Paraklete, the Advocate, all names given to the promised one to continue the work of Jesus in through the Church. Jesus tells his disciples of the role of the Holy Spirit. How the encouragement of the Advocate gives us the courage to speak into a world gone wrong.
