In the third part of our synodal webinar series, we discuss vulnerabilites of LGBTI+ people and various ways how the church cares for them. In the recording of the webinar you can hear 4 powerful testimonies from people caring for those in need and sharing the Good News. 2 of the speakers have to protect their identity though, as their exposure might bring them and their work in danger in their countries of East Africa. As one of the speakers points to an interesting paradox: there are several Christian humanitarian organizations working in the refugee camps in Africa and they take care of refugees fleeing from another country precisely because of the church's attitudes towards LGBTI+ persons.

The second edition of the synodal webinar series prepared by the Roman-Catholic Working Group of the European Forum of LGBTI+ Christian Groups took place on the 9th of March 2024. Members of the EF's Roman Catholic Church Working Group continue their work in support of visibility of LGBTI+ Catholics during the Synod, where Pope Francis is trying to bring the Church closer to the people. The Synodal Project Group of the RCC WG works together with global partners to collect Synodal experiences to ensure voices of LGBTI+ persons are being heard in this historic process in the global Catholic Church. For the spring of 2024 we have prepared a series of public webinars, where we want to talk with experts on selected topics such as the relevance of the Synodal Journey, the recognition of and blessings of same-sex couples (especially after Fiducia Supplicans), the unity of love and truth, and understanding the worldwide vulnerabilities of LGBTI+ people.

Each year there is an international conference happening, organised by the board and a local group. Every year it has been organised in another country. This year it will be in Varese, Italy, near Milan. This is an interview with a part of the organising team who tell us about the conference, what we can expect, who it is for and other things that give us a taste of what we can expect if we register for the conference 2024.

Being authentic is not always easy. In the past, it was even harder to be. For Ricardo, it took time to accept himself and be who he is. Growing up in church that meant a great deal to him, he learned that being gay is a sin. Of course, he isn't the only one. Many of us have experienced this kind of hardship. But many of us, just like Ricardo, have risen from the ashed, embraced who we are and are doing our best to live an authentic life. Our stories can now be told and hopfully those can encourage others and let them know, life can really get better.

You probably heard about the situation in Uganda. People are being imprisoned, tortured and killed for being LGBTIQ+. I'm talking to Pastor Ram who is gay and a non-binary person, who had to flee Uganda to save their life. They are continuing their work of raising awareness and helping LGBTIQ+ homeless people, refugees in East-African countries. Ram is sharing his story, what is happening in Uganda and what they are doing to help LGBTIQ+ people.
