When two Soviet prisoners were once placed in separate cells, their tormentors tried to convince them that their partner had betrayed them and capitulated to the state. Yet, their covenant with each other, their trust and mutual integrity, prevented this deception. Ultimately, the fabric of Christian community depends on the trust we can maintain in each other— a trust to love at all costs, never betray, and never break covenant.
