BILL BEISWENGER, CPO, FAAOP is the Co-founder and owner of Abilities Unlimited. Bill is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics. He served as President of ABC in 1999. Bill currently serves on ABC's examination committee and the professional discipline committee. He is also a past commissioner of the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE). A/Prof Al Muderis is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Squadron Leader in the Australian Air Force Reserve. He is also an Ambassador for the Australian Red Cross, human rights activist and a refugee.
Born in Baghdad, at the age of 27, Munjed had to flee Iraq as a young Doctor having refused the orders of Saddam Hussein to mutilate army deserters’ ears. Munjed endured a life-threatening journey to Australia. After spending 10 months in Curtin Detention Centre, upon his release, he embarked on a mission to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is now one of three surgeons world wide pioneering a revolutionary technology known as Osseointegration. As a leading surgeon in this complex reconstructive and robotic surgery, Munjed has helped more than 450 amputees from around the world to improve mobility, reduce pain and overall enhance their quality of life. Munjed’s day-to-day work as an Orthopaedic Surgeon involves hip and knee arthroplasty and major reconstructive surgery. He teaches at Notre Dame and Macquarie Universities, trains local and international surgeons, registrars and medical students. Apart from his academic and clinical roles, Munjed is heavily involved in humanitarian work volunteering his time as a surgeon and as a human rights advocate. He has affiliations with Amnesty International, United Nations High Commission.

Jim currently is a trantibial amputee from when he was a kid. He has won 4 medals as a Paralympic skiier, is a certified prosthetist, builds a specialized prosthesis for skiing, and still consults with paralympic athletes. In this episode Jim talks paralymic skiing, prosthesis design, posterior vs distal mounted feet, and more.
Elizabeth grew up watching her dad provide prosthetics and orthotics to those who needed them. This gave her great perspective and a love for the field. But, she didn't want to be a prosthetist. So she found a way to stay connected. Listen in to hear her story and to hear about upcoming international, national, and state O and P meetings.
Derrick Campana started and owns his own practice treating only animals. In this episode he talks about how he developed that practice, treating animals, his love for animals, and what we can learn from animals to improve treatment for humans. Derrick will soon be featured in a documentary when he provided a prosthesis for an elephant.
