The word “God” turns some people off these days, but it is time we all grow up and get our definitions in order so we can move on.

God isn’t some guy on a throne in the sky judging everything we do. God isn’t on this side or that side. God isn’t a “thing” at all. God is in fact “no-thing” because God is that which cannot be categorized, that which transcends categories, that which gives rise to categories.

God is the wellspring of life, the ground of being, the united whole of all things, the eternal energy out of which all things emerge. Omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. Supreme.

The truth is you can't have a unique purpose without God. Your purpose must be embedded inside God's mysterious, grand purpose for the universe. Without God, how do you know you have chosen correctly amongst the infinite number of alternatives?

The best we can hope for is harmonious alignment with God's plan for the universe. The great religious traditions call this Union with God, which always produces the experience of Heaven on Earth. Your unique purpose puts you in union with God.

The master framework for Purpose OS comes from Aldous Huxley’s bookThe Perennial Philosophy when he said, “In Hindu thought…the ways leading to the delivering union with God are not two, but three—the way of works, the way of knowledge and the way of devotion.” 

In our operating system, these three paths build atop one another. We start with devotion, move next to knowledge, and finally take action through works.

Misery is often found at the intersection between person and world. What connects the two? 

Worldview, paradigm, perspective. 

It's called "Inter-action" for a reason, right? The worldview is a channel where action flows between person and world.

The world is kind of like hardware in a computer, the person is like a user, and the worldview is an operating system.

Operating systems are the interface between the user and the hardware in a computer. They make it so the user can interact with the hardware, aka use it. 

A malfunctioning operating system hinders the "user's" ability to "use" the hardware.
