Having Fathers Day follow Juneteenth so closely also raises questions about the concept of Legacy within both subject matters. How does America reconcile the psychological segregation Its citizens possess in the understanding of its own History?  Is it Black History? White History? Or should all labels be stripped away and as a nation, we embrace the truth of One Cohesive History? With all the PVO Bros. being first-generation Americans ourselves, and descendants of African Fathers  (Nigerian & Malawian) How do we embrace the legacies we got from them Individually? It can sometimes be a minefield navigating the mind of a traditional African Father, but when excavated properly, the gems they possess are priceless. So too is the tumultuous history of America, littered with gems and pockets of glory. In this episode, we explore all of it without losing sight of the silver linings embedded throughout. We explore and highlight the immediacy of the Black Lives Matter movement, the dark and disgraceful history of American policing institutions as well as the systematic oppression of marginalized groups that bore from America's devilish tango with racial inequality. The PVO Brothers kick off their very 1st podcast episode discussing the new normal of the coronavirus pandemic. They discuss how each of them handled the initial news and slowly but surely grew to adopt the ebbs and flows that came with the novel state of the world. With the help of Dr. Leeja Carter, the group not only discussed her new initiative called The Hudson County Hunger Project: A movement dedicated to providing meals to elder citizens and the homeless during these trying times, but also her numerous tips on how to stay healthy and wise through trying times.
