The Quest Atlanta Catholic Radio episodes

  • Ave Maria in the Afternoon Full Hours - June 10, 2026 - Hour 1

Segment 1: “How long will you straddle the issue?”

Today’s readings begin with the great confrontation between Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel. The entire narrative is a challenge to all of us that we ought not have divided hearts when it comes to our life in covenant with the Lord. Marcus has more.

Segment 2: What is Life Worth? Advice from the Ancients (2 segments)

Why are so many developed countries seeing a “birth dearth?” Why are the week and the ill considered burdens to be disposed of? It’s because our society has lost sight of the very value of the human person. Nadya Williams joins us with a look at the roots of this ideological shift and how we can reaffirm the imago Dei of each person.

Segment 3: The Man who Fiddled as Rome Burned

Today is the anniversary of the horrifying death of Emperor Nero. He was a terrible figure, as violent as he was unvirtuous. How did he rise to power and what drove his entire reign? And what is the impact of his persecution of the Christians on our life today? Marcus examines this.

    Questions Covered:

    • 06:00 – I’m in the episcopal church and am curious about Catholicism. I have some reservations about papal infallibility. I’m wondering if I’d be able to become Catholic without holding to some dogmas.
    • 17:30 – What is the Catholic view of predestination? Also, I know the Catholic Church put together the bible, but how did it do it?
    • 30:00 – Protestants use 1 Cor 13:8 to say the age of miracles is over and it ended with the death of the last apostle. Some Protestant also say that this was the end of apostolic authority, specifically when it comes to forgiveness of sins via a priest. What are your thoughts on these?
    • 40:25 – I’m not Catholic because the organization of Catholicism is openly homophobic and an official hate group. Also because of its crimes against humanity.

    • The Family Room - Overcome the Spiritual War
Guest: Fr. Tamiru Atraga, priest of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Healing Ministry
A beloved member of the Atlanta priesthood, Fr. Tamiru Atraga was born in Ethiopia and received his name after his parents were told both he and his mother would die during his gestation. Mary appeared in a dream, encouraging Mr. Atraga to pray, and both survived. The name Tamiru means miracle.
As one of 14 children, Tamiru’s upbringing was hard, walking barefoot three miles to high school. His father trusted God and although a simple teacher, he built a chapel in his home where Mary appeared, asking him to start a healing ministry. He became locally famous, never accepting money for the healings God performed through him.
Young Tamiru went to high school at a minor seminary in Ethiopia with the Vincentian Fathers, and after more than 10 years studying in Ethiopia, he moved to America, studying six more years at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts, and then serving the Archdiocese of Boston. It was early in his priesthood when he discovered God had also gifted him with a healing ministry of his own.
Fr. Tamiru knows Satan is real and not a “power” or “force”. We ignore him at our own peril! Padre Pio says that only our weakened free will opens the door to Satan. Father Tamiru explains how to close it!
