This was a tough one. Probably the most complicated question yet, and one I've spent a lot of time wrestling with. It's a tricky balance, to try to name spiritual realities in a way that is insightful and fresh, while also being rooted and faithful.
Not sure I nailed the balance, but I really gave it my all.
And I hope it helps translate the ancient concept of "the satan" into language that resonates.
Also: While I didn't see it explicitly in the video, I do what to be clear that good therapy and good medication can be tools that help us grow in our spiritual life. All is connected.
So go to therapy. Get meds if you need them. Love God. Love others. Love yourself. Set rhythms. Pray.
The Adversary ain't got nothing on all that goodness.
⬛️ The Question Box is simple:
Each week pastor and author Kevin Makins invites listeners to ask the best question they can think of.
(Best is up to your discretion, but it’s anonymous… and absolutely nothing is off limits.)
Make it personal or theoretical, a hot topic or utterly irrelevant.
Just be sure to share it in the comments.
Tuesday mornings he’ll post his favourite two as a poll on Instagram.
The winner becomes next weeks episode and he'll give it the best response he possibly can, no matter how ridiculous or strange.
New episodes on Thursdays.
