The University of Pretoria TuksRes Women in Leadership Academy (TRWLA) was started in 2014 in order to provide a platform through which to enrich the lives of young women at university.

Whilst large strides have been made towards obtaining a more gender equal society, much work still needs to be done. The academy hopes to be a part of enabling that process of growth in young women and investing not just into people, but also into the heart of South Africa. Starting at the beginning of their university career, the academy focuses on providing young female students with opportunities for growth and empowering them to use their potential.

The Mr South Africa competition is all about striving to find the perfect aspirational man; balanced in health, intelligent, passionate, driven, ambitious, and last but not least, attractive. He must be a leader that inspires and motivates. To act as a role model for boys and men to aspire to. To make a difference towards a better South Africa. Jaco van der Merwe works for KPMG and is now trying to be the next Mr South Africa for 2017. We sit down for a chat with Jaco to find out what it takes to be the next representative of men in South Africa.

Ban Animal Trading is a non profit company, based in Gauteng. BAT focuses on local investigations into various forms of animal abuse and neglect. BAT also deals with educational outreach to help South Africans understand animal rights. BAT does not support illegal activism and prides itself on working closely with SAPS, the NSPCA and local council committees.

For the last 20 years SADAG has been at the forefront of providing counselling services, mental health awareness programmes, powerful media campaigns, school talks and rural outreach initiatives to thousands of patients, families, and communities across South Africa.

We talk to SADAG's Operations Director Cassey Chambers about how SADAG is trying to destigmatize mental health problems in South Africa.

The Miss Earth South Africa is a programme that aims to empower young South African women with the knowledge and platform to create a sustainable difference in our plight to combat the destruction of our natural heritage. The programme helps to create an awareness of sustainable development, our environment, wildlife and the conservation of our natural legacy in South Africa, and ultimately the preservation of Mother Earth.
