The Ralph William Podcast

as we embrace the beginnings of spring time we take a little time out of all of our busy days to have a morning conversation on this Saturday. For those that are on the Podbean app the live section is going away so we like to get a bit of our last interactions with each other. For those that never experienced that it was a good time for all of us. Some of us didn’t feel alone some of us didn’t have to be as presentable and some of us were able to find a nice corner in the Internet world where we can hide from everything else. You just had to be there to experience it. But let this be a chunk of all the good times that we’ve had.

Welcome to Coffee with R. W. and the Epic Strategies Network (WESN) — where independent talk, culture, music, and real conversations come together.

In today’s episode, we break down two major stories dominating the headlines — one intense and international, the other historic and triumphant.

First, we examine the escalating violence in Mexico following the reported killing of cartel leader Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, head of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Authorities say his death triggered coordinated retaliatory attacks across multiple cities, including vehicle fires, road blockades, and airport disruptions. We discuss what this means for Mexico’s ongoing battle against organized crime and the potential ripple effects for regional stability and U.S. security concerns.

Then we shift from conflict to celebration as Team USA defeats Canada in a dramatic overtime finish to win Olympic gold in men’s hockey. It’s a rivalry game that lived up to its hype — physical, emotional, and packed with momentum swings — ending with a championship moment that will be remembered for years. We break down the key plays, the overtime winner, and what this victory means for American hockey on the world stage.

Two very different stories. One episode. Global tension meets national triumph.

Tune in as we unpack the headlines, provide context, and give you the full breakdown

Was Abraham Lincoln truly the “Great Emancipator”… or was he viewed as a dangerous overreach of executive power during his time?

In this powerful episode of Coffee with R.W., we take a deeper look at one of America’s most iconic — and controversial — presidents, Abraham Lincoln.

While history remembers Lincoln as the man who saved the Union and helped end slavery, the truth is far more complex. During his presidency:

• He suspended habeas corpus

• Expanded executive authority during wartime

• Faced massive political opposition

• Was deeply unpopular at various points

• And ultimately became the first U.S. president assassinated

Was he a defender of democracy — or did he stretch constitutional limits too far?

This episode challenges you to think beyond the textbook narrative and consider how leadership is judged — in the moment versus in hindsight.

🎯 Conversation Question for Listeners

If you were living in 1863, would you have seen Lincoln as a hero — or a threat?
