Which begs the question... Is Jaylen Brown now the best Celtic (Over Jayson Tatum)??? What are YOUR thoughts? Would Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets have had a better shot at beating this Boston team? The Boston Celtics triumphed in the 2024 NBA Championship by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in a five-game series, securing their NBA-best 18th title. The series was a showcase of the Celtics' depth and skill, led by standout performances from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Tatum was instrumental throughout the series, particularly in Game 3, where he scored 31 points, helping the Celtics take a commanding lead. Brown also had significant contributions, consistently putting up strong numbers and playing crucial defense. The Celtics dominated the first two games at home, winning 107-89 and 105-98, setting the tone for the series The Mavericks, despite a valiant effort from Luka Dončić, who recorded impressive stats including a triple-double in Game 2 with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, couldn't match the Celtics' overall team performance. Dončić's efforts were complemented by Kyrie Irving, who had his moments but ultimately couldn't turn the tide in Dallas' favor. The Celtics sealed their victory in Game 5 with a decisive 106-88 win, where key contributions from Jrue Holiday, who led the team in points and rebounds in Game 2, and Kristaps Porziņģis, who returned from injury to provide crucial support, underscored Boston's balanced attack. This championship not only added to the Celtics' storied legacy but also highlighted their resilience and teamwork throughout the playoff.

Are the Boston Celtics about to sweep the Dallas Mavericks?

Notes: In our opinion, the number one reason Boston decimated the Mavs was defensive guard play: Before this series started, we were telling everyone that the main reason why Boston has a better chance to win the championship is because of their defensive guard play… Everyone’s talking about Kristaps Porzingis right now, but when Jrue Holiday D’d up Luka Doncic, the Mavs couldn’t score… When Holiday was Luka's primary defender in the second half, he only scored three points. Luka was being guarded the entire way up the floor. Al Horford played very well against Luka as well. When Al Horford was the primary defender… Luka went 1-8, 0-4 3pts, and scored 2 points. Kyrie Irving got shut down… 6/19 for 12 points… Kristaps Porzingis was a really good lob defender in the first game of the NBA finals… There were multiple times where he prevented lobs with his length… Does Jason Tatum not play well when the Celtics are down? Or does he only put up points when his team is up? Game 1 was the third largest margin of victory in 30 years (18 points). Lakers won by 25 in 2009, Warriors by 22 in 2017, this team by 18 in game 1 7 players on the Celtics made at least 2 three pointer in game 1… which is wild...

Jontay Porter just got banned from the NBA for life for violating the leagues gambling policies. This is a wild end to the Toronto Raptors season... Trading away our best players (OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, etc), players being injured, tanking, etc. Hopefully, the Raptors end up getting that 6th overall pick!

This is a big playoff preview pod! In the NBA Eastern Conference, Alex and Andy are on the same page about the Miami Heat getting into the 8 seed, but getting beat by the Boston Celtics. Andy thinks Joel Embid and the Philadelphia 76ers will beat Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks (Without Julius Randle)... Alex thinks the Knicks will beat the 76ers. The Milwaukee Bucks will beat the Indiana Pacers, The Cleveland Cavs will beat the Orlando Magic. In the NBA Western Conference, the OKC Thunder will beat the Sacramento Kings, The Denver Nuggets will beat the LA Lakers (even though that series will be really interesting), Alex thinks the Phoenix Suns big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal will beat Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves... Andy thinks the opposite here! Alex thinks Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks will beat Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and James Harden and the LA Clippers, while Andy thinks the Clippers are winning that series! The Toronto Raptors lose by 48 points to the Minnesota Timberwolves, which the largest margin of defeat in franchise history. That was embarrassing. What’s even more embarrassing is that they've dropped 15 straight, 2 losses away from the franchise record that was during the 1997-98 season. Alex Drobin and Andy Redding dive into it all!

This was arguably the worst NBA all star weekend of all time. The rising starts competition was the one of two decent things on the menu, because there’s a target score for every game, and Benedict Mathurin and Jaden Ivey got into it a little bit. Good little rivalry brewing there. NBA all star Saturday night was horrendous, with the skills competition being a joke, with our boy Scottie Barnes giving ZERO you know whats…lol The NBA three point contest was the only other piece that was entertaining, because 4 players were tied at 26 made threes going into the finals, where Damian Lillard won back-to-back contests. He was also the MVP of the NBA Sunday all-star game. The dunk contest might have been the worst part of this whole weekend! With all due respect to Mac McClung, it’s still tough to believe that a guy who’s not even in the league won the dunk contest…. Jaylen Brown came out with the worst dunks in contest history. He’s a way better dunker than what he showed. Hopefully, it’s better next year!

Pascal Siakam returns to Toronto for the first time since being traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers beat the Raptors, with Siakam scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Tyrese Haliburton puts up 21 points and 12 assists as well. All Star Scottie Barnes had a big game with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. However, Raptors fans did not like how he walked off the floor in the Raptors previous loss against VICTOR WEMBANYAMA and the San Antonio Spurs. We get into the NBA All-star weekend festivities, primarily, the three point contest, which features; Malik Beasley, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Damian Lillard, Lauri Markkanen, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trae Young.... The Toronto Raptors acquire Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji in trade with the Utah Jazz. The Raptors also send off Dennis Shroeder, Otto Porter J and Thaddeus Young. The Raptors will reportedly receive three first-round picks as well as Bruce Brown and Jordan Nwora in the blockbuster deal that comes three weeks ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline. The Pelicans are also involved in the trade, sending Kira Lewis Jr. to Toronto.

Is Jayson Tatum the best player in the NBA right now? Against the Toronto Raptors, it sure seemed like it! Controlling the game in every aspect... Great defence, hitting big time shots, making the right plays EVERY TIME... Jayson Tatum might not be the MVP this year, but it seems like he'll get there in the next couple of years. The Toronto Raptors brought it close, but the game slipped away in the final few minutes when Derrick White hit an absolute DAGGER from the corner. Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes had off games as well and the Raptors couldn't buy a bucket at the end of the 3rd quarter and in the fourth. RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley played well, but the team just didn't have enough! What are your thoughts?
