Was there ever an age of reason or was it all just a bunch of philosophical nonsense? Are you truly more rational than the person who brags about their knowledge of god or are you simply employing the same bias that the religious person is employing, only from a more scientific perspective? Do you believe in science? Why do you choose to believe in something that has nothing to do with faith? We often forget that science was invented by humans to give us an unbiased opinion of reality. Science is void of emotion. It does not make arguments; it only exposes preexisting truths about the world that surrounds us. Yet we are inundated with proclamations of profound scientific views of the world. People sit around debating what science matters and what science does not. This should be a huge alarm bell for any true seeker of knowledge. Science is largely politicized in the modern world and has been turned into a kind of battering ram for various political agendas on the left, right and center. Political terminology skews rational thought today more than anything else. It is not enough for the scientist to simply present their findings; these findings are used by politicians to further expensive policies that very few people understand entirely. So it becomes very important to not simply "believe" in science, something which is impossible considering that the very idea of science is not really compatible with any belief system. We cannot just trust that people have gotten it right. We must actively participate in the discussions of science, especially after these discussions become politicized because there is nothing all that scientific about politics. The right and the left boast about their rational minds, not realizing that the rational mind is a myth, a creation from the Age of Reason philosophers, such as Descartes, people who had no knowledge of neurology or how the human mind works. We still employ the knowledge of such rational thinkers, even though we now know that rationality and irrationality coexist inside every human brain. Have you ever noticed how a perfectly "rational" person when it comes to one topic can behave in an insane way when it comes to another topic? This is because humans are emotional beings and emotions wreak havoc on our ability to reason. A person who is doing well in a particular situation may begin to believe that they are smarter or more talented than others. However, this is not at all the case. A person who demonstrates exceptional abilities in one area will no doubt be lacking immensely in other areas; they just happened to excel at that particular task. Caitlyn Jenner is a great social influencer, but her political savoy is nothing short of abysmal. Tony Robbins has made a great career for himself giving silly speeches that make people feel nice, but he would ultimately suck as a psychologist. Lebron James is great at basketball, but he is not the best speaker. I could go on and on listing people who excel in one area while failing miserably in other areas. All of these people have different belief systems. There is no one way of thought that is going to turn you into god. There is no intellectual holy grail. The possibility for human error is huge, and it is ever present. Does my atheism alone make me smarter or more reasonable than a Christian? No, absolutely not. But some popular atheists believe that their lack of belief in god makes them superior to the religious, all while these same atheists continue to blanket stereotype the Muslim community and scream at anyone who disagrees with them. Is this really reason or is it just another cult of personality? This is why nihilism is the future of atheism. Atheism remains unpopular because modern atheists refuse to embrace nihilism and instead transfer their once religious beliefs into the scientific realm, theorizing wildly about nonsense like transhumanism or some UFO Barrack Obama said he saw once. Rationality indeed.
