I've had the good fortune to get to know many great, talented, and creative people within the radio-controlled hobby. One of the longest-running friendships that I've had has been with someone that got into the hobby around the same time that I did. After years of Facebook Messenger chats, I sat down with Andrew Jurcich for a great talk about what got him into the hobby, what some of his favorite builds have been, and what goodies he has in his R/C garage.
If it appeared that the RC Newb Podcast was turning into a one episode per year affair, fear not! I'm kicking off the new year with a new passion for the hobby and a new approach to the podcast. In this episode, I give an overview of the changes within my R/C garage and share some thoughts on a few of my newest additions.
Thank you for listening to the show and for subscribing to the podcast. If you aren't already a subscriber, you can add the RC Newb Podcast within iTunes or in your favorite podcast client.
With three years of the R/C hobby under my belt, I've seen more than a few changes and shifts in what is popular and what is gaining momentum. In this latest RC Newb Podcast episode, I give my take on where I see the hobby going this year, as well as sharing some of my newest upgrades and updates.
Ok, the title may be a little misleading. I hadn't caught up with Tim Smith for a while and in that time, he's been to a few places, done some stuff, and has seen a few things. If you want to find out what he's been up to (and find out about a fun contest that he's launching), you'll have to listen to the episode...or read the show notes.
Aside from our always-entertaining discussion, he had two of his trailing pals, Mikey and Mark join him for the recording and they shared how they got into the hobby, what machines they run, and what they've been up to lately.
Lastly, I've been working on new t-shirt designs that are available in the RC Newb Shop, have recently done some modifications to my Axial SCX10 Jeep, and I'd like to get your feedback on our new site section, the R/C Garage Sale.
The more I think about it, there might be a few things worth listening to in this episode. Enjoy!
Show Notes:
I've been meaning to give some shout-outs and show my appreciation for many of the folks that I've met through the hobby for some time. This is the first of what I'm sure will be many episodes where I hope to shine the spotlight on some great people who are doing great things in and around the hobby.
Show notes & shout-outs:
Well, the system has recovered from the issues that came up during last episode's recording. I picked up where I left off, discussing my interview with Adam Munds of RC Fest and cover a few new events that have come about. There are some housekeeping items to discuss and, oh yeah, a new Axial rig to dream about. Enjoy the show!

In an attempt to bring you some killer updates from the world of R/C, something happened to my recording setup and half of the episode was lost in a garbled mess of audio garbage. That said, I was able to salvage most of my Frankencrawler project recap and tease a few other items that we've got cooking. Sit back, relax, and let your ears enjoy show.
In our ongoing "garage chat", Josh, Tim Smith and myself continue our crawler discussion, including what items you need to bring with you when you're out on the trail. Mr. Smith also shared a few entertaining (as always) stories and fills us in on a few upcoming events he has planned.
Show notes
Josh, Tim Smith and I recorded a show last night that was unlike any other that we've done before. We typically have pre-show chats, but this pre-show turned into THE show as we had some great discussions around crawling, scale rigs, batteries, and everything in-between.
Show notes
I'm joined in-studio for this episode by special guest "Mr. C", who wanted to show off his new R/C ride. We also talk about crawlers, rally cars and much more, so enjoy the show!
