Kari gives us the scouting report on herself as a softball player and tells us about her first home run and best HR celebrations before getting into her commitment to play softball next year at Providence and how she’s focused herself on the sport over the past few years.

1:40 Interview- Dr. Anderson. Anderson answers some fun questions about what it’s like teaching while bringing her daughter to work everyday and what a literal mess Rhodes was during his first year of teaching.

15:20- Dr. Anderson talks about her work with the Equity Team at Holly Springs, and mentions some small things teachers can do in their classrooms to make it more welcoming for all students as well as some larger things the school/district can do.

32:40- We also discuss the role of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) and what they do for teachers as well as students. And Dr. Anderson gives her pitch as to why all teachers should be a member of the NCAE.

5:30 Interview- Alyssa Heron & Ashley Macom. We talk a lot about cheerleading with these two HSHS Seniors and members of the Cheerleading team. They discuss the best parts of cheering, how competition cheer differs from supporting school teams, some great cheer movies and tv shows, and why cheerleading definitely is a sport. 5:00 Interview- Mr. McConnell. We welcome back McConnell to talk Homecoming Kings, positives from our classroom, what we’ll take back to normal school from online learning, college application tips, beginning cooking tips, and McConnell also grades the golf games of Rhodes and Will.

40:45 Mailbag. We answer questions about which Assistant Principal we’d follow if they ran their own school, pick our own faculty golf foursome, and McConnell answers some dating advice questions.

She talks about all of the COVID protocols for the return to volleyball workouts a week ago, as well as talking about the success her team had a year ago before we preview the upcoming volleyball season, talking about some of the returning players, what the team needs to do to be successful, and how they stack up against the rest of the SWAC.

41:30 Coach Davis talks about her change in teaching roles for the upcoming year, some of her strategies for helping kids who are struggling in class, and speaks generally about the Special Education program and some things both she and other teachers do and can do to help out students receiving those services.
