In this episode of The Real Hernando, I interview Mark Arcelle, President of The North Mississippi Trail Alliance, a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mountain biking and off road trail access in the north Mississippi region.  

Mark and I discuss the work the NMTA has undertaken to develop trails for the local community to enjoy, including the recently developed Area51. 

The Area51 multi-use trail, located just 7 miles south of Hernando on Highway 51, represents the latest trail project Mark and the NMTA have undertaken. With 5 miles of trail available, it has become a favorite destination for mountain biking, running, and hiking enthusiasts.

area 51 ice cream makes handmade artisan ice cream scratch daily, using locally sourced, natural, in-season produce. Steve and Karin share their personal story, including what brought them to Hernando and lead to them opening area 51 ice cream!

They share what makes them so passionate about ice cream, the ups and downs they’ve experienced through COVID, and what makes them so passionate about continuing to serve sweet scoops of rich ice cream to the local community here in Hernando.
