There is so much spiritual abuse out there its frightening. Some of it is really overt and obvious but much of it is very subtle. Pastors tell people what to believe and how to interpret the bible in such a way as to say that people can't search the scriptures for themselves and reach their own conclusions. They tell people they can't go on Facebook, or watch YouTube. They tell them who they can spend time with and who not to and they, who to marry etc. Many are mini cult leaders and some are just overcontrolling out of fear of losing members and financial support.
