The Red Shirts: A Star Trek Podcast

The crew of the USS Internet was delayed in delivering this latest podcast to the Federation colonies and the fault lies at the feet of the captain! Yes, I've been forced to undergo a career change that called for four intensive weeks of training and field work, which took up much of my time. But I'm back in the center chair, delivering this program which was recorded nearly a month ago and it is one of our best! We're visited by special guests Dan Deevey of GaaaysInSpaaace and Ben Ragunton of Two Gay Geeks, along with Red Shirts alum Davette See to discuss The Outcast, another TNG episode that doesn't really go all the way (see our review of The Host)! The message in this episode is about as subtle as a hammer on a nail...but is it effective? Or does it take the easy way out? Join us in a trenchant discussion of The Outcast!

Welcome to part 2 of our SJW trilogy! I say that tongue firmly in cheek: last episode, we reviewed The Host and and the potentially homophobic overtones in the controversial final scene. THIS WEEK, I uncover a LOST EPISODE of The Red Shirts, which we recorded in March 2019, coincidentally with guest host Davette See, formerly of Black Girl Nerd. Well, Davette makes another appearance in this archival episode where we review the TNG episode Lessons. I make a case that this is NOT Capt. Picard's finest moment in dealing with the romance he shares with Lt. Nella Daren. And I let my frustrated inner attorney free! This is a CAN'T MISS!

Check out Lessons on Netflix, CBS All Access or Blu-ray, then put on your cognitive thinking cap and join us in this fascinating breakdown of one of Qstorm's favorite TNG episodes!

It's a Red Shirts social justice warrior two-for-one and we welcome former Black Girl Nerd writer and current contributor to Fandango and Star Trek.com sa well as CEO of Running Ladies Studios!

In part 1, we review the TNG episode The Host, the one where Trek DOESN'T boldly go where no one has gone before, at least in 1991! We discuss the nature of attraction, how Dr. Beverly Crusher handles her conundrum, we also unpack whether or not a violation of Riker takes place in this episode! And we debate the CONTROVERSIAL FINAL SCENE. Yes, we go THERE! Qstorm and Big Sexy spar over Gates McFadden's acting prowess!

Check out The Host on Netflix, CBS All Access or Blu-ray, then put on your cognitive thinking cap and join us in this fascinating breakdown of one of Qstorm's favorite TNG episodes! Then beam aboard next week for part 2 of our social justice crusade with another triggering topic!

We've been 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round perdition's flames but WE'RE BACK! We're back just in time to give our perspectives on ALL the new Star Trek stuff that came out of San Diego Comic-Con. Is it overkill? Are they milking the Trek IP? Is CBS All Access interested in putting out quality material to raise Trek's status or are they interested in just making money for their streaming platform at the expense of Star Trek? What the hell is this Lower Decks? We unpack all this from just about every angle, and provide our theories and opinions!

No excuses for the delay this week, seeing as the finale airs tomorrow, but you can still check out my review of Such Sweet Sorrow! I ponder why I continue to hatewatch DSC and whether or not I'll review next season. I also make a connection between the Enterprise bridge and Seinfeld! It's all here!

We go walking "through the valley" of the shadow of death with Michael Burnham and crew yet again! Take a listen to what I have to say in this latest review!

Hey, everyone, I'm giving you back to back episodes just cuz I can! Last Sunday, I called in to the Afronerd Radio program to get into some Star Trek Discovery with hosts DBurt a.k.a. the Afronerd and his companion in white collar crime, Captain Kirk! We basically let it all out, how we feel about this second season of Discovery! NO HOLDS BARRED!

The program is hosted on Blogtalk Radio, which requires callers to literally call in on phones, so apologies for the audio quality.

Tune in to Afronerd Radio Wednesday at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 6:00 pm! Also on iTunes: https://apple.co/2CRtOZV

And online: http://www.afronerd.com/
