Elihu waits his turn - when he speaks he burns with anger. He glorifies God - sees pastoral purpose in suffering.

This is the final speech of Job's 3 friends. Bildad says nothing new - Job replies with a defiant summary of his position. Job is a faithful though imperfect servant.

Eliphaz - Job argue over the very nature of God. Eliphaz makes God far off - easily manipulated. Job complains of unjust treatment at the hand of God.

Zophar has a simple worldview. Evil deeds bring the judgement of God which is shown in suffering. Job replies that he doesn't see the wicked suffering, they appear to be very happy. The problem of evil in the world is nothing knew to humanity - the answers we have don't make suffering any less real.

Bildad now threatens Job with a bad end to this life and the expectation of hell in the the afterlife. Job in reply makes his most famous confession of faith.
