God’s invitation isn’t reserved for the perfect—it’s for the broken, the doubting, and the undeserving. Looking at the story of the prodigal son, we see that God doesn’t ask us to clean ourselves up before coming home. Instead, He runs to meet us, just as we are.

Our lives are the story of God's faithfulness. Steadfast love and mercy are defining characteristics of who he is, therefore mercy is not dependent on what we do. He is with us from beginning to end, unchanging, so he can be trusted with all that we are and all that we do.

In the middle of the worst days of his life, Job proclaimed “I know that my Redeemer lives”. In times of tragedy it is not necessarily the tragedy that can destroy our faith, but our response to it. Holding on to the reality that our God lives is the only thing that will keep hope alive in the moments that we may not make sense of what is happening around us.

The phrase “but God” often symbolizes hope and divine intervention, marking a shift from seeming defeat or hopelessness to a turning point of grace and victory. When mankind became separated from God, God knew that we would never have the ability on our own to restore that connection and that relationship. The timeless hymn, Amazing Grace, defines the "but God” moment in every believer’s story, when God made restoration possible through Jesus.

The greatness of God is on full display—in creation, in redemption, and in His promise to return. From the majesty of the heavens to the power of the cross, we are reminded that our God is beyond measure. As we reflect on the story behind How Great Thou Art, may our hearts be stirred to worship the One who is worthy of all praise.
