(Reidsville, NC) - Reidsville Chamber of Commerce President Diane Sawyer talks with Drew Barefoot and Brittne Stevens as they discuss the work they are doing with the Bikes For Kids Foundation, Rockingham County.

Bikes for Kids provides new bicycles and helmets to underserved third grade children in order to help them develop pride, responsibility and a strong sense of community, as well as to encourage their academic, physical and social growth. At it's heart it is a character and morale building program. The children are tasked with writing an essay, thinking that there will only be 3 children who "win" bikes as the essays are judged. At the culmination, (March) they have all worked hard and earned the bikes, so every 3rd grader "wins"! These bicycles "take them places" for years to come by showing them that their local community is with them and for them. All they have to do is be their best selves - think big, work hard, be kind and have no excuses.
