It’s that time again, where Jennifer takes over the studio to host another informative edition of The Representation Hour! This week, Jennifer explores the ‘Bury Your Gays’ trope, which is prevalent in an exhaustive amount of mainstream media. It generally refers to the often seen narrative that queer characters in media are denied happy endings, with more than 74% of queer characters in media being killed off for the sake of a narrative. Jennifer explores some of the problematic shows that contain this harmful narrative, explaining their causes and why they are dangerous for important queer representation.
