What feels heavy today?
In this RESTORED Reset, Andria shares why naming what you’re feeling can be an important part of navigating grief—especially when you’re tired of saying, “I’m fine,” or judging yourself for still having hard days.
Naming what’s heavy doesn’t mean allowing sadness to control your day. It means being honest enough to recognize what you need instead of forcing yourself to keep pushing through.
Today’s reset:
Complete the sentence, “What feels heavy right now is…”
Then ask yourself, “What do I need because this is heavy?”
You don’t have to solve everything today. But you can stop pretending that what you’re carrying weighs nothing.

Navigate grief. Reclaim hope. Rebuild life.
In this episode, we talk about:
You can trust God and still have questions.
You can love God and still be angry.
Those things can exist in the same heart.
Maybe your next faithful step isn’t trying to make the anger disappear. Maybe it’s simply telling the truth.

The RESTORED Widow Podcast with Andria Gaskins
Until next time, take the next step. You’ve got this.
In this episode, Andria talks about:
Make your bed like it matters.
Pull up the sheets.
Stand there for a second.
Let yourself notice that you created one small place of peace.
Not because everything is okay, but because you are worthy of care, even here.
As you do this reset, ask yourself:
Lord, help me create peace in the places where grief feels loud. Please remind me that taking care of myself still matters. Please help me take the next step today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If this episode spoke to a vulnerable place in you, don’t let it end here.

You do not have to rebuild your whole life today.
Just take the next step.
You’ve got this.
One day can divide your life into before and after.
In this episode of The RESTORED Widow Podcast, Andria Gaskins shares the emotional and practical reality of becoming a widow — not just the moment of loss, but the way life keeps demanding decisions, paperwork, parenting, responsibility, and strength when your heart is still trying to understand what happened.
This episode is personal, but it is not only about Andria’s story. It is for the widow who remembers the day everything changed, the season everything shifted, or the moment she realized life would never be the same.
Andria shares three personal stories: the night Scott died after what had been a beautiful family day, the courthouse errand that turned into a panic-filled reminder that everything was now on her, and the Mother’s Day beach trip that became one small sign that she and her boys were still here.
This conversation honors the full weight of widowhood — the grief, the shock, the practical overwhelm, the loss behind the loss, and the quiet hope that begins with one small next step.
What “the day everything changed” really means
Why widowhood is both emotional loss and practical overwhelm
How grief can affect your memory, energy, focus, sleep, and decision-making
The shock that can last long after the funeral
The pain of handling paperwork, finances, parenting, and decisions alone
What people often misunderstand about early grief
The “loss behind the loss” — routines, identity, future plans, partnership, and the life you expected
Why hope does not mean pretending you are okay
How one small choice can be a sign of restoration
This week, write down one thing that changed after your loss that you have not fully allowed yourself to name.
It may be emotional.
Then say:
“This matters because it mattered to me.”
You do not have to fix it today. Just name it.
Psalm 34:18 — “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.”
This episode includes discussion of sudden loss, emergency medical care, early widowhood, panic, and grief. Please listen with care and pause if you need to.

Most of us have something we are saving for someday — the pretty mug, the fancy candle, the soft blanket, the good dishes, the notebook we do not want to mess up, or the perfume we only wear for special occasions.
But after loss, it can be easy to stop reaching for beautiful things altogether. Sometimes we do not think about it. Sometimes we do not feel worthy of it. And sometimes we are just trying to get through the morning without falling apart.
In this episode, Andria shares how, after Scott died, even the smallest acts of care began to matter. Not because they fixed grief or changed everything, but because they became reminders that she was still here and still worth caring for.
This reset is an invitation to choose one small thing you have been saving and use it this week. Let it remind you that you do not have to earn care. You are allowed to receive it, even in the middle of rebuilding.
You do not have to rebuild your whole life this week. You can begin with one ordinary morning, one small act of care, and one reminder that you still matter.
Choose one thing you have been saving for someday and use it.
The good mug.
Do not make it complicated. Just choose one small thing and let it remind you:
My life still matters. I’m still worth caring for.

Welcome to the first episode of The RESTORED Widow Podcast with Andria Gaskins. In this opening episode, Andria shares the heart behind RESTORED Widow and why she created this space for widows who are grieving deeply but do not want pain to have the final word.
After losing her husband, Scott, Andria found herself trying to figure out life without the man she had loved for almost 30 years. She describes the early days of grief as all-consuming — affecting her body, mind, soul, and spirit — and shares the honest truth that she did not want to feel that bad forever.
Andria also shares the story of an unexpected trip to Hobby Lobby, where she found a Christmas ornament with Proverbs 31:25: “She walks in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.” That verse became a small spark of hope — not because she felt like that woman yet, but because she wanted to become her.
This episode introduces one of the central themes of RESTORED Widow: doing the next thing. For Andria, that did not begin with a big plan. It looked like making the bed, getting dressed, cooking dinner, and taking one small step at a time.
She also talks about the hidden losses of widowhood — identity, friendships, financial security, time, and the future she thought she would have with Scott. RESTORED Widow exists because widows are not just grieving one loss; they are rebuilding a whole life after the life they loved was snatched away.
This podcast will honor grief, but grief will not be the only focus. RESTORED Widow is about the "now what?" of widowhood: faith, finances, loneliness, purpose, self-care, family changes, community, guilt, rebuilding, and the small steps that help a widow breathe again.
In this episode:
Key takeaway:
You can love and remember your husband and still build a good life for yourself. You do not have to have all the answers today. You just have to take the next step.
