Mel Power and Steve Major interview a panel of Simon Dennis, Jason Andrew and Leanne Berry about The Bookkeeping Community.
In this podcast we discuss the changing role of the bookkeeper and the unique relationship they have with clients. Also, building a client base and the importance of effective positioning. There is a feedback loop because of the nature of the work, they are often seen as a trusted confidant and the business is not purely transactional.
It is important to be early adopters, early adapters and trusted advisors.
Effective positioning hinges on not trying to be everything to everyone.
Put yourself in a position so that when clients have a problem, they know that you are the company who can solve it.
Invest in a plan!
Key takeaways from this session: be open-minded. The challenges bookkeepers face aren’t anything different to what any specialist that has had to adapt to change has experience. It is all about opportunity, its not about making life difficult.Have a plan, set a goal, be certain about who you are. Understand your positioning.
