Good morning. Rhode Island. I'm Michael Mosby.

Step outside right now and you're walking into a wall of fog, that damp 42 degrees feels colder than it sounds. But here's the thing, this is just the opening act.

That fog burns off by mid-morning. And then we're chasing records. Providence climbs to 64 degrees by 4 P.M. — that's 28 degrees above normal for early March. Your car thermometer is going to make you do a double-take.

Down along Narragansett Bay, you're stuck at 49 degrees. That marine influence is keeping things cooler, but even 49 is well above average. Southwest winds stay gentle at 3 to 9 miles an hour, while mostly sunny skies inland, partly sunny along the coast.

As the sun sets. Tonight, clouds roll back in after sunset, patchy fog develops again after 11 P.M. Lows drop to 38 degrees, south winds pick up slightly.

Wednesday stays dreary all day, that fog lingers into morning. And we never quite shake the clouds, providence reaches 61 degrees, but the bay stays stuck at 48 degrees. There's a slight chance of light rain — any rainfall stays under a tenth of an inch.

Wednesday night brings a better chance of rain as a cold front approaches. Lows hold mild at 44 degrees.

Thursday sees that front push through with showers likely, highs reach 56 degrees before colder air rushes in. West winds gust to 24 miles an hour.

Friday turns much colder — highs only reach 44 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Then we're watching another system for the weekend that could bring rain and even some snow showers late Friday night.
