Tonight Lisa plays the archive of The Real History of Bonnie and Clyde, one of her favorite episodes! It’s been more than 80 years since Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker charged through the back roads of Texas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma, leading a trail of stolen cars, robbed banks and dead bodies in their wake. But time has only served to make the brash deeds of Bonnie and Clyde more notorious. Many books have been written and movies and documentries made about the life of this notorious couple, but few know the real, accurate history.Tonight Lisa welcomes Perry Carver, owner of The Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum in Gibsland, Louisana. The museum is located a mere 8 miles from where Bonnie and Clyde met their fate. Perry's interest in this famous couple began at about age 8, while growing up in Georgia. His grandparents lived in Louisana and knew the family that owned the "Death Car" for a while. As a youngster, he played in this car. His grandparents told him the story of its history and he began researching. He realized the inaccuracies for many of the "facts" and when he graduated, his grandmother financed a trip for him to find the truth. He traveled around the United States, talking to Bonnie and Clyde's surviving family members and other living key people in the story, and began to get a picture of the truth. He somehow ended up at the Ambush museum which was ran by "Boots" Hinton, son of Officer Ted Hinton who was one of the officers at the ambush. He befriended Boots and learned a lot from him. When Boots passed away a few years ago, Perry bought the museum from the owner and took it over. It is located in the old resturant that was the last place Bonnie and Clyde bought food before getting killed 8 miles away. Perry is now working on expanding the museum. Tonight Perry is going to talk to us about his journey and what he learned. This is not an episode to miss!!
