Tonight we go back to December 19, 2017 when Just Short of Crazy welcomed ladies from The Walter Hoving Home.. These ladies have came to the home to get away from their lifestyle and overcome addictions. They have a higher success rate than any other rehab,

This is a poignant statement. Many people don't think about this. They choose to not think of those whose lives are shattered. Drugs, crime, prostitution. Many people just live their lives without a second thought about these people. But not Rev. John and Elsie Benton. In 1967 they founded a home for ladies who had their lives shattered by this lifestyle. This home in upstate New York became the first Walter Hoving Home, John and Elsie (Dad B and Mom B, as known to the ladies) would go out onto the streets of New York City and put their lives on the line to talk to these ladies and offer them a way out. The home was a 12 month recovery program. The ladies lived at the home and adhered to strict rules. The rehab is Christian based and the ladies turn their lives over to God. The home helped them to work through the underlying issues that caused the addiction and taught them life skills. They also helped teach them job skills. The home hires previous graduates. The current CEO, Beth is a graduate of the program. They now have grown to 4 locations: Garrison, NY; Pasadena, CA; Los Vegas NV; and New Jersey. Since their start they have impacted over 23,000 lives, and have a 82% success rate. This program does not get government grants and relies on donors. They won't turn ladies away because of lack of money.
