Bomani Jones is joined by David Aldridge, of The Athletic, to discuss his new book called “The Basketball 100.” The guys begin the conversation by talking about the process of making the book and some of the forgotten bucket getters in the league like Elgin Baylor and David Bing. (1:00) They also examine the 1970s which could go down as the most forgotten and democratic era of the NBA. From there, David brings up dynasties and it leads Bomani to ask him whether he prefers dominance or parity following his conversation with Mina Kimes earlier this week. (9:35) Then Bomani goes through the list of 100 players and asks David his thought process on them while writing this book. Players like Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Irving, and whether or not Scottie Pippen was underrated or overrated. Bomani Jones kicks off today’s show by discussing the slippery slope that is losing. (1:00) He begins the discussion on losers by talking about the Dallas Cowboys who continue to look really bad. With Dak Prescott out for the year, the Cowboys future is bleak behind Cooper Rush and Trey Lance. Plus Jerry Jones is crashing out after his stadium caused CeeDee Lamb to drop a touchdown catch. Are the Cowboys too far gone to try and salvage this season? (3:15) Then Bomani briefly brings up the New York Jets who are also down bad and unsalvageable, before finally talking abut the Winners for this week. (13:45) Are the Chiefs the least impressive 9-0 team of all time? (15:55) And does this week confirm that the Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFL following their comeback win over the Houston Texans? (19:15) From there, Bomani speaks on the recent news in the NBA and why he wishes there was more physicality. After the scuffle between Jaylen Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bomani wishes there was more of a fight following that incident. And with Chet Holmgren’s injury, Bomani sends flowers to one of his favorite players who embodies the dog mentality. Bomani Jones kicks off this episode by talking about his Detroit Lions and their big victory over the Green Bay Packers. First Bomani discusses Jason Kelce and the interaction with a fan over the weekend, who said a derogatory slur to him, which lead to Kelce smashing the fans phone. The second one was the interaction between Joel Embiid and Marcus Hayes, a reporter for the Inquirer, following Hayes' piece which referenced Embiid's brother who died in a bike accident. (28:00) And finally, Bomani shares his thoughts on the Drake vs DeMar Derozan beef that happened and why maybe Drake should actually tolerate the disrespect. It was a crazy, and at times hilarious week in the NFL, but before Bomani Jones recaps Week 8 he begins today's episode by discussing Dwyane Wade's sculpture. Why does it look so bad and why have modern day sculpture artists gotten worse? (0:53) From there Bomani first talks about Jameis Winston and the Browns who had a big upset win over the Baltimore Ravens.
