Words are powerful and they can betray what's going on in our hearts. But sometimes, even the most heartfelt encouragement may fall on deaf ears or fail to take root in someone's spirit. As someone who has tried to be a "fixer" with my words, I've had to learn to shut up sometimes! In some ways, trying to think of the perfect speech or advice makes the situation about us rather than the people who are hurting.
