It's the place everyone wants to go, but few want to talk about! It's mentioned during funerals or while we're grieving. It's been memed countless times in TV shows and movies. Singers compare their greatest romances to it. The best food we've ever had gives us a taste of it! The deepest joys in our lives don't scratch the surface of it, and our most profound sorrows aren't worthy to be compared to it. I'm talking about Heaven.

I talked to a student last year who believes the only way God communicates with believers is through the Bible. And while I agree that God DOES communicate with us through His Word, He also gives us His Holy Spirit so we can be in constant communion with Him, even beyond reading our Bible. On this point, however, she and I did not agree. Here are my takeaways from that conversation!

Once upon a time, I felt similarly about work. I even thought it was punishment that we are subject to until we die. But in recent years, my perspective has been transformed. The institution of work originated with God. When we work with integrity, faithfulness, and hearts eager to please God, we are worshipping Him! And we are fulfilling His command to "fill the earth and subdue it" while being good stewards of His creation. Yet, as believers, we also wrestle with the fact that there are many frustrations in our work (overzealous bosses, office politics, gossip, bureaucratic hurdles) that can thwart our attempts to serve God.

We all want people to be treated according to their behavior because that's what we consider "fair". But when it comes to forgiveness, we cannot operate based on "fairness". And this is hard for us. So hard, in fact, that we cannot find the strength within ourselves to forgive others. This power comes from the Lord. 

In this episode, I compare the cultural view of forgiveness to the Biblical view and explain the role of forgiveness in the life of a believer.
